[Closed] Tales of the Pridelands: The Beginning

Malkia nodded, not quite able to find any words as she was still stunned by the baboon's presence. It felt too good to be true - being handed this abundant land on a silver platter, then again it seemed they had to uphold these rules as well. It was a fair deal it seemed and the concept was simple enough - so she waited to see if Horoshi had anything more to say.

Horoshi wore a happy grin after both of them seemed to understand.
"Ahh good, good. There will be obstacles however...not sure quite what will get in your way though!", he replied. Horoshi then began to walk back towards the rock path. "Oh, by de way. I'm good with medicine, people regard me as a healer around these parts! If I can be of help, come find me in da big tree near the river leading to the waterhole. I hope you do well lions...". He bowed his head and in the blink of an eye, he had already made it down half the rock path.

Kion turned to Malkia,
"Wow...I don't even know what just happened then...". He stood up and looked over the edge slowly, the baboon was gone. "He's a quick little guy...". he muttered. He sat back down, looking at the lands. "I think we should do it...these lands have so much to offer. We could start a pride, a family and build a territory here". He was smiling with almost a bewildered look in his eye.

Malkia smiled at the thought but made sure Kion knew it wouldn't be easy: "You know it's going to be a lot of work to get a pride together," She slipped her head beneath his chin, purring slightly before adding: "Though if anyone can succeed, it'll be you."

Kion smiled lovingly at his mate and licked her cheek,
"Yeah I know...but I won't succeed unless your at my side". He nuzzled the top of her head before sighing, he was boiling from being out in the sun. "Hey, lets go down and lie in the shade outside of our new den". He began to walk away, towards the rock path, waiting for Malkia.

Malkia happily followed, already tired from the heat of the day and stifled a yawn as they took cover just outside the cave that would serve as their den. It was just before she lay down beside Kion that she remembered the point coming out of the rock, and looked to see it jutting out in front of her. Curiosity taking the better of her, she padded forward to reach the tip and smiled as a breeze blew through her fur.

Kion reached the bottom and had already led down, rolling onto his back on the cool rock. Realizing his mate wasn't beside him, he looked out to the point. There she was, sunlight hitting her fur and the breeze ruffling it. He smiled, and watched for a few moments. Then, he himself got up and walked along the point. The relief of the cool breeze hit him and he sighed. He lent down to give his mate a nuzzle before saying,
"For some reason, I can imagine all the other animals here down there, looking up at us".

She laughed "The great Kion, surveying his territory whilst the other animals bow to him!" Malkia joked, nudging him softly. She looked out to the horizon and squinted at two figures resting beneath a tree a good walk from the rock. "Hey Kion, does that look like more lions to you?" She stretched her neck out as though trying to get a closer look.

Kion laughed back,
"I didn't mean in that way". He nudged her back, but then when she mentioned she could see more lions, he also looked out to where you was looking. He too could see two figures. "Yeah, looks like it. Well, maybe they are heading towards here? They might be looking for a pride!".

"They'll be disappointed when they just find the mighty Kion, huh?" Malkia teased before moving down the point to the shade again, unable to tolerate the Sun any longer. "We'll just wait for them to come here I suppose - the baboon practically handed the rock to us right?" She joked.

Kion followed Malkia and flopped down onto the cool rocks, he sighed in relief and then replied,
"Not too disappointed I hope. Well...if they ask if this is our territory...I suppose we say yes. After all, we did get here first. And the baboon, Horoshi his name was I think, gave us the rock anyway". He paused to take a breath before continuing, "If they ask to join us to make a pride, we'll just have to see what they are like".
