"Not really," said Kiara with a grin, getting up slowly. She stretched her entire body and opened her mouth in a big yawn. Then she joined Kokota and Vitani as they gulped down what was left of the antelope.

"Hi mother! Sorry, did we wake you?" Kokota said.

Kovu stretched his paws and opened his jaws wide in a yawn. A delicious smell soon tickled his nostrils and he noticed the others eating up some antelope. The recent events still loomed heavy in his mind, Nala's disappearance and Simba's death ripped at his heart. He pushed the thoughts aside as he padded over and gently nuzzled his mate. "Enjoying breakfast?" he purred.

"Yes Kokata, but it's okay," said Kiara to her son. Then she turned to Kovu and nuzzled him. "Would you like some?"
She noticed that he was more tired-looking than usual, and it wasn't because he'd just woken up. She could tell something was bothering him, and she didn't have to think hard to know what it was. In fact, Nala's disappearance and Simba's murder were fresh in everybody's mind, but they'd learned to push aside the heart-breaking memory for the time being.

He quickly gulped down a few bites and licked his lips, enjoying the feeling of food in his belly so early in the morning. He wanted to rest all day and hide inside the cave with Kiara and his son, but he knew that he couldn't let Simba's kingdom fall apart and a show of fear was the last thing he could do at that time. His paws felt heavy at the thought but seeing his son very much alive and happy helped lift his spirits.

Vitani looked at her brother.She understood what's happen to him.She walked up to him and nuzzled him."Brother,you have to be brave.I know that Nala's and Simba's gone hurts you really much,but,don't forget that you're the king now.King's never give up..."she said,nuzzling her brother.Then said"I can play with Kokota if you want to."she said and turned to Kokota."Kokota,would you like to play with a while?"

Kiara was glad to see that Vitani was trying to lift Kovu's spirits. She shot Vitani a look of approval and then said to Kokota,
"Alright, you can go play with your aunt while I organize a border patrol with some of the other lionesses."

"Thank you Kiara."Vitani answered then turned to Kokota."Okay,let's go,little prince!"she said and walked away from the cave.

Kovu remembered back to when they were cubs and how far they had come since then and he knew Vitani was right. He puffed out his chest a little and shook out his mane.
"Thank you Kiara, and remember to be very careful out there," he padded over and gave her a small lick on the muzzle. "I need to figure out what I have to do today."

Kokota followed Vitani out of the cave. "Where are we going today, auntie?" he asked with excitement.
