The den was particularly dark and cold that night. The moon shone through the small holes that the termites had created onto the head of the sleeping figure of Kivuli. His gray mane fell across his face as he slept peacefully in his corner of the den. He was having quite the good dream as he felt something tug on his ear. He grunted as he turned quickly onto his other side. The tugging continued. He growled slightly in his sleep as he turned again.

"Wake up fool!" Chukia hissed. Kivuli opened one of his amber eyes and looked up at his sister.

"We'll hunt later..." Kivuli murmured as he closed his eyes to go back to sleep. Chukia rolled her eyes and smacked Kivuli upside the head. Kivuli snarled in pain as his eyes shot open. He bared his teeth at Chukia as he rubbed his head.

"This isn't about hunting! Lady Zira wants to see us! She said it's urgent..." Chukia whispered. Kivuli calmed down and sighed.

"Chukia , you brute. You didn't have to smack me to wake me up." Kivuli said with an expressionless face. Chukia snickered and smacked him again.

"Don't forget I'm the brute that saved your behind once upon a time. Now come on!" Chukia whispered as she began to trot towards Zira's quarters. Kivuli rolled his eyes and followed after his sister slowly, trying not to wake the others.

Nuka was in Zira's quarter, waiting. He had woken up a while ago. He didn't know what his mother was waiting, but he still waited. It had to be something good. He would ask his mother, but he knew she wouldn't answer him. So he waited.

Mivuli stopped at Zira's quarters waiting for the female to address him. Meanwhile Chukia walked over to Nuka and ran her claw along his side for the pure joy of it.

"He's already awake you know..." Mivuli murmured looking at what his sister was doing.

"You think im doing it to wake him up?" Chukia chuckled.

Zira looked at Nuka, then Kivuli. "Kivuli, I need you to help Kovu train, and that's an order. If you don't, you will be...... Zira then took one of her fingers and moved across her neck. "That's what will happen." Zira then looked at Nuka. "Nuka! Go find food!"

[Baya]

"The threat wasn't necessary. I am at your disposal Lady Zira" Kivuli said as he bowed his head. Chukia snorted.

"Can your nose get any browner?" Chukia hissed. Kivuli smacked Chukia upside the head this time.

"Where is Kovu now?" Kivuli asked quietly.

Kivuli's eyes looked over to the teenaged Kovu and it took all the self control he could muster to keep from snorting. This boy talked tough, but Kivuli could tell that he needed alot of work before he could kill anyone.

Hey, stop doing this termite! He stood up and remember his mother's orders. I'll go right away mother! He walked outside and and started thinking about Kovu. Yikes. Kovu being a king? Only the king of termites! I should be king, I'm bigger, stronger and smarter and I was born first! He started searching for food.
