Delano smiled and pressed his head against Lina's. As he watched Umeme and Muroki play with Kasi in the water, he thought about himself and Lina. Right now, the two of them were together, and life was almost perfect. He simply didn't know where else he would rather be, if at all. As Delano thought about this, his mind kept falling back to a question he wanted to ask Lina, something that he thought about for a long time while he lay recovering.

"Hey, Lina, there is something I wanted to ask you..." Delano turned his head to look at her. Even though he was smiling, he was already losing his confidence. "I was err, wondering if..." He blushed, and looked away, trying to regain his composure. "Perhaps now is not the time..." he muttered.

Lina, who thought that Delano was going to ask her some random question and did not think that it was anything serious, kept her head where it was in Delano's mane and did not look at him, which was why she did not notice the way he blushed all of a sudden. "Uh... alright..." she did find it a little awkward, but did not think about it too much. "You know, this is really great, to finally settle down for once." she looked at him with a smile, "Don't you think?"

Delano nodded slightly, trying to find the courage to finally speak up. "Yeah, so about that, I was thinking about things, Lina..." He nudged her head in order to get Lina to look at him. When their eyes locked, he gave her a small smile. "When I was you know, waiting to get better, I was thinking, and I uh..." Delano blushed even harder, but kept his gaze on Lina. "There really isn't any reason for me to wait any longer, so I want to ask you..."

He swallowed hard, feeling really nervous. "Lina... would you like to be my mate?"

Lina found herself at a loss for words when Delano finally asked his question. She did not see it coming at all, and she did not even know what to think. To be honest she was starting to wonder whether Delano would ask her soon, but she didn't really prepare herself for the actual moment of him asking. If being mates meant starting a family, then she didn't feel ready for that at all. Should she say no then? Then again, her sister and Muroki had been together for quite a while now, and as far as she was aware they still haven't decided to start an actual family of their own. "Would I like to?" she asked, pausing for a moment. 'Like' seemed like a little word for such a question. "Yes, I'd love to."

Delano smiled, relieved at Lina's answer, and reached out, grabbing her into a deep hug. "Thank you," he whispered into her ear, "I... it really means a lot to me... thanks." He closed his eyes and rubbed his head against Lina's, allowing himself the time to enjoy the moment when he finally asked her, and she accepted.

All the time he had spent waiting for this moment, thinking about what he should say, and fearing what Lina might say, was all now behind him. She accepted his proposal, and that was all he now cared about. He opened his eyes and looked at hers, enjoying the loving gaze her eyes had. He smiled and rubbed his nose against hers. "Lina." He had said her name plenty of times before, but now, just the sound of her name coming out in his voice, it was like magic.

Lina smiled, staring into Delano's eyes. "It means a lot to me to." she said as they rubbed noses, "I was beginning to wonder when you were going to ask me." now however it didn't matter how long she had been waiting for him to propose to her because he did and she accepted his proposal. Things were going to be absolutely perfect from now on, she could just feel it. She leaned in closer to her mate and kissed him. Just thinking about the fact that they were mate now brought her joy.

Delano stood still before he returned Lina's kiss. As he hugged her again, he was hardly aware of anything around him anymore. Lina's comment on his timing struck Delano as somewhat funny, because he too many times wondered if he had waited too long. But as he felt now, Delano knew that it didn't matter anymore. He asked Lina, and she accepted.

Around this time, the fight in the waterhole was coming to an end, and Umeme got a chance to look at Delano and Lina again. She was expecting to see them together, but she did not expect to see them kissing. Moving over to Muroki, Umeme smiled and motioned for him to be quiet as they watched Lina and Delano. "You think something has happened?" Umeme whispered.

Muroki had to admit to water fights proved to be more tiring than he thought they would be, probably as the result of having to swim in order to keep his head above the surface of the water. He looked at Delano and Lina when Umeme whispered to him and shrugged. "Maybe, I don't know." he saw Umeme raise an eyebrow at him, "What? I'm a guy, all that this says to me is that they really like each other." he thought for a moment, "I mean, something didn't necessarily have to happen when you think about it."

Umeme shrugged. "I know nothing didn't really need to happen," she whispered back, "but tell me when was the last time you saw the two of them like this? I don't think ever got this close, at least not when I was around." She snuggled up closer to Muroki, which was somewhat hard considering that they were still in the water. "I think something has happened."

As she looked, Umeme swore that she might as well walk up to either Delano or Lina, prod them really hard, and they won't move because of it. Umeme looked at Muroki and grinned at him. "Want to ask them?"

Umeme's attempts at snuggling close to him only resulting in him being shoved slightly aside since they were still in the water, causing him to chuckle. "You might have a point." he said, thinking back and remembering that he really did not ever get to see the two so close and so disconnected from the world as the result of being busy with each other. "We can ask them, but I don't want to interrupt. I mean... They look quite comfortable." he knew how much he enjoyed having moments like that with Umeme, and he knew that if they were in the position Lina and Delano were in they wouldn't want to be interrupted. "I think we can wait a little."
