May I ask how universal health care is going in the Netherlands? I just want to know what the U.S. is in for.[/quote]
It works great. You pay taxes and the goverment pays for all your healthcare. This goes from pills to major operations. No more people who die from treatable diseases because they can't pay healthcare.

If someone chooses not to have healthcare in the US, it's always because of the money. There is no sane person on this planet who would not want healthcare. A country should work with the "we work for us" principle, an not the "I work for me" principle. This is called a we-economy. The government should help the people function together and that is what this does. You get sick, you get treated. No more bullshit, you just get the treatment. It works, it helps, and it brings the people in a country closer together.

And to anyone who thinks we are socialists: GTFO!
There are those who complain about the wind, there are those who hope the wind will change, --though the wise-- the wise adjust their sails.

And yet it was a conservative judge that decided in favor... perhaps it's not so cut and dry as you make it out to be.

It's funny... my government claims to be so much socialistic and stuff... But, some time ago this guy died in front of a clinic cause his insurancce's password didn't work, in others you've got to pay some money before you get attended, so if you don't have money you die, as easy as that. So I don't get it, LOL, why hasn't this been done in my country aswell x)

Simply, congratulations, USA.

Is anybody here opposed to Obamacare? I'm not going to vilify you and say "GOD HOW COULD YOU IMAGINE THAT EVERYONE SHOULDN'T HAVE HEALTHCARE" but are people concerned about its effect on the healthcare sector, or the possible tax increases?

If you can't afford to pay the tax, then you will be benefiting from it the most. Think of the hobos!

I'm not sure how it works for those who already have healthcare, but I can't imagine it would make much of a difference.

Those that have it are the ones that don't like it, because now they pay taxes so those that don't have it can have health care. ;) It is just ridiculous that the we complain about taxes when we have pretty low ones compared to other countries.
I personally agree with ObamaCare.

I think that people are most concerned about the taxes because

a) in an awful economy people don't want taxes being raised, people are afraid that, especially in lower middle class families, it will hurt their quality of life.
b) requiring all businesses over 50 employees to offer insurance could lead to major layoffs to cope with the cost, new taxes raised by the ACA will discourage growth
c) health care costs will probably rise

I'm worried about taxes/prices going up. Thing is, my family still cant even afford to take me to the doctor to have my knee looked at (Which I dislocated about a week ago and it looks like it may be slightly fractured or something weird.) My brother was in a biking accident a few weeks ago. He wasn't seriously hurt but he still had to go into the emergency room to get a cut bandaged up. It really wasn't as serious as people thought it was. HUGE bill came out of that. I don't really know much about this stuff but I do know that if the prices go up any more, lets just say getting dinner on the table and getting me to a doctors office (Which should have happened last week) is gonna get a lot harder than it already is. Not to mention future doctor visits and bills to pay and such.

LOL I'm not expert on this stuff and I may have misunderstood some of this stuff so if I got something wrong please correct me.

If I understand this correctly, taxes will go up, yes, but all medical expenses will be nonexistent, just like public education is free.

The only problem I see is that the ones that have minor illness will either not be seen or they will have to pay for it themselves.
