A few questions about Scar

A few questions about Scar

Postby TheBlackCatCrossing » May 20th, 2012, 2:02 am

Hey everyone, I had some theories in my head and I was wondering what everyone else thought.

1. Was Scar disliked or did he put distance between himself and the lionesses/Mufasa? We never see any direct contact between them until he calls out Sarabi. It is strongly implied then that he is not as well liked but what about BEFORE Muffy's death? Did they stay away from him or did he put distance between them and him?

2. How did Scar view YOUNG Nala? Rafiki?

Between him and Nala, I have seen various interpretations. In some, he wants her as his Queen, others, indifferent. I recently read this fic where he was nice to her and it was in character. I like those stories where he isn't a massive jerk and can be nice and you can still hear/see him say that.

Thoughts?

1. I believe he distanced himself from everyone and was disliked because of his aloofness/nastiness. Which in turn, drove him further away from everyone. Vicious cycle.

2. If we take TLKOB as canon, then Scar definitely wanted Nala as his Queen. If we take TLK6NA as sub-canon, he was not a fan of Rafiki at all.

I think that before the death of Mufasa, they put up with Scar, but didn't really like him much. I can just imagine Sarabi saying "Does your brother HAVE to come to the ceremony? You know he won't enjoy it!" Of course Mufasa has to stick by his brother, even though he annoys him greatly. I mean, he looked utterly shocked that Scar was going to kill him.

As far as Nala and Rafiki are concerned, I don't think he had any feelings for Nala either way, she was just Simba's little friend and Rafiki, I think would annoy him.

I don't think anyone thought that Scar was evil. It's clear that Scar wasn't exactly on the best of terms with Mufasa's pride, as he kept his distance from them, but they were obviously caught off guard by his plot. Even after he took over the pridelands, they still trusted him enough not to revolt, until Simba returned.

From Scar's perspective, I don't think he liked anyone. He seemed not to care about the hyenas too much, and they were the ones that were actually on his side.

What I think is that Scar was a loner. In the beginning of the movie, right before Simba's presentation, we clearly see that Mufasa and Sarabi are surrounded by the rest of the pride. When Mufasa goes to find out why Scar wasn't at the ceremony, Scar comments how he has finally come down "to mingle with the commoners."

This could mean either A) That Scar is delusional and lost the proper definition of 'commoners', making it seam like Mufasa doesn't spend a lot of time with his kingdom subject, or B) that Scar is so separated from the pride, that he is just another animal in the Pridelands, and actually considered himself a commoner instead of a royal family member.

It's true that Scar most likely said that simply as a jest, but I think it also had deeper meaning: no matter the reason, Scar is so separated from Mufasa and the rest of the pride that he is effectively an outsider. With this case, when he took over as King, the rest of the Pride had no real reason to love him, nor hate him. He is just Scar, that other lion who lives in the Pride Lands, and is related to Mufasa by blood.

Question. Pardon my ignorance but was it ever stated that Mufasa knew that Scar was 'friends' with less desirables? I am quite certain that the lionesses did not know that Scar was not in league with the hyenas until after Mufasa's death. Maybe it was a rumor before death?

Anyone?

I think Scar was disliked and also put ditance between himself and the others. I think he pretty much hated most of the other lions, which is why he gets along with the hyena's. I think the lions always found Scar a little.. weird or something. xD But my story about Scar's life is very confusing D: so, hard to explain that. I think he always was a little ''mad''. Not that he could help that. D:

For how Scar view young Nala, I am pretty sure he didn't view her any else than ''just an annoying little friend of Simba''. XD
About Rafiki I have no idea.. O.o'' I don't think they had much contact. ^^'' Maybe just as a weird monkey. xD

No one really liked Scar. He was a loner type lion of the the pride. So he found friendship in the hyenas. Scar was never really liked, he did his own thing and had his own way of doing things.

And with the whole Nala and Rafiki thing. He just saw Nala as Simba's friend and Rafiki as a monkey. xD He wasn't really close to them, or really knew them well enough.

I don't know, actually. I was only pointing out that Scar used the hyenas, he wasn't exactly friends with them. Whether or not their alliance was public, up until Mufasa's death, is pure speculation.
