These are my 'Official Pets'.

This is my sweetie, Momo. She is a Chihuahua - Toy Fox Terrier mix. She has taken on more of the Toy Fox Terrier size and temperment I think, weighing 17 lbs and being crazy friendly to any human she can find. The main goals of her life seem to be 1. Eating, 2. Being with people and preferrably the center of attention. 3. Snoozing, 4. Playing. She is not naturally fond of any other animals and will chase anything including bears, but appears mostly just to want to chase things away, and has never actually caught anything except our bird once. But the bird catch was with a 'soft mouth' and the bird was unharmed. She's very smart and learns things super quick, but doesn't like rules. The Toy Fox Terriers are notorious for being very independant and will run where they will, unless leashed. She isn't attached to any one person but goes from person to person in the family depending on who will give her the most attention. Very easy to care for, and handle, being so small. These breeds are also long lived and relatively healthy

Image

This is our Parrotlet, which is very originally named 'Birdy'. We have have three of these over time, but the first two were rescue birds that had health problems and didn't live long. But we got two good and comical years with each, before they sucumbed to illnesses. A Parrotlet is basically just a Pocket-Sized Parrot, and has all the same attributes, such as ability to learn words and phrases and talk, be handled and carried around sitting on your shoulder, etc. They are very personable with people they get attached to, but don't necessarily only choose one person. The males (which this is) are especially noted as being bossy, but we find they are usually that way when feeling threatened or uncomfortable. For instance if you want to hold him, and put your hand in the cage, he may nip. But if you open the cage door and offer your hand right outside, he will come if he's in the mood and be friendly. This is our first healthy bird and we have had him about 5 years and he could live to be 17ish. It's hard to get a good pic, cause he is usually moving! Quite easy to care for. They eat frequently. We let him have run of the house (can fly around) but only when we are supervising, and have strict rules on opening doors etc.

'Unoffical Pets'

Black Bear # 3732 (just kidding...I never read his tag)

Image

I have several of these, but will just picture one, our annoying bear. We happen to live on a main animal trail along a small river so we get lots of wild animals, including bear, deer, fox, bobcat, raccoon, coyote, and turkeys. We don't feed him or keep anything etible outdoors (trash, bird feeders, etc) but bears are very intelligent and he will come into the attached garage if he finds the door open, to knock over the trash bins and steal a bag of trash to go through, in the woods. I don't get close to him (or her) if I can help it, and took this pic through a screen door and with a hand on the wood door. But Black bears are generally non-confronational and will stay out of sight unless foraging for food. I am in the woods constantly, but have never seen one there. Of all the animals this is the most amazing to see up close. They have very intelligent eyes.

First up, we have Prince. He is (sadly) gone now, after surviving cancer for 2 1/2 years. We lost him on 1/11/11, and I haven't stopped missing him since. He's my furry little angel now.

Image

Next is Ariel. She's my husband's bengal cat that he got before I met him. He named her after a Slyvia Plath poem that he liked. She'll be 8 in September.

Image

This is Mufasa. He's essentially "my" cat. My husband and I adopted him together, on Valentine's Day 2009. But we got him because I really wanted another cat, since Ariel is not one to cuddle. His name was Chip, but I changed to to Mufasa because Chip didn't fit him at ALL. He'll be five in June.

Here's both of my babies hanging out on the couch together.

Prince looks like a great dog. It wasn't really feasible for me to have a dog until now and I am amazed at how close you can get to them.

Here's another 'Unofficial Pet', Luke (or Lulu) Bushwalker. It's a Ribbon Snake that is living in the rocks and shrubbery in front of my house. Ribbons will climb bushes and trees, and this one was sunning himself on a sunny spot on a bush about 4 feet high.

Nice. I don't have a picture of Snow (my Bichon Frise) but he looks like all other Bichon Frises. They come only in white so here's a picture of one:
