"Ghost" stories?

Well, just as the title says, share your stories of the Paranormal. It doesn't matter if you believe in them or not, if you've had an experience that you cannot explain, share it! Feel free to also state the location (Your house, office, ect), time (day, night, time of day/night), and any other info you might have on it. If you also have maybe the history of this place or the surrounding area, share that as well! It might help in figuring out who exactly is haunting your place. We can all talk about stories here and help each other "De-bunk" the mysteries surrounding the place.

I've actually grown up with spirits. The house that I had lived in since I was born until very recently (I moved) was very haunted. I have many many stories, and my mom has stories to match.

The most common happening happened almost every night without fail. I'd be in my room very late at night, maybe between 11:00 PM and 2:00 AM, give or take, and I would hear chanting and talking, and people rattling what sounded like chains in my living room. I'd sit up and look out into the living room and no one was there but I could hear it clear as day. This would go on for a long time, and I eventually learned to fall asleep to their chanting. I would also often hear people whispering things into my ear, but they were speaking a language I wasn't able to understand. I would try to speak to them, and it would always seem like they understood me, but I never understood them. This, again, happened almost every night, well after my entire family was in bed and dead asleep. (I can see all of their rooms from mine.) I just recently discovered that we lived near an Indian Burial ground, so I've concluded that the chanting would be Indian chanting and rituals, and the rattling of chains was probably the rattling of the beading they wore on their clothes/costumes rattling around as they danced. I've also concluded that they were talking to me in an Indian language.

Many nights, I would also see solid black masses/shadows on our porch, which I can see clearly from my room through the living room and through the big windows in the living room. They would standing there, one or two of them. My dogs would trigger the outside light, and they would always be standing at the edge of the light's circle so that they were only a tad illuminated. They'd stay there for a long time, moving around, talking, ect, and finally I would just fall asleep. This would also be very late at night. (I don't sleep very well, mostly because I was always hearing things.) One day, I decided to try to De-bunk this. I tried to recreate it that night, and was never able to. The shadows always stood in an open area as well, and the shadows that were caused by the lamp-posts on our porch couldn't make the shadows I was seeing.

One night, I heard what sounded like a party on our porch. I looks out there and saw a couple of shadows moving around, dancing, stuff like that. I could also hear the faint sound of a piano or something like that. They were laughing and rattling dishes. That only happened one night. Keep in mind, we live a ways away from anyone, and this was about 3:00 AM.

I would also hear knocking sounds and noises I was never able to explain. They were WAY to loud to be rats. I would hear them in the house and out in the woods beyond where people aren't allowed.

We had a playroom at the end of our home. A lot of times, (this happened to both me and my mother) as you walked into the kitchen, you'd look into the playroom, and you'd see the shadow of a young girl playing in there. You'd look away, and when you'd look back, she was gone. Many times, as I left the kitchen, I'd see her watching me go. She once waved at me, which freaked me out a tad. I also tried to De-bunk this, but I was never able to make my shadow do what that little girl was doing.

A couple of times, I'd see the same young girl, late at night, sitting on top of my dresser starring at me. She wore a pretty little dress and slippers. She's be there for a few moments, and then she would just disappear. A couple of times, I would hear "Hello!" as I sat up in bed to take a closer look at her. The voice sounded like that of a very young girl in a very happy mood, like she was excited to see that I was awake and looking at her. One time, when I saw her, I whispered hello to her. She said hello back, and was gone. I never saw her in my room again, but I saw her in the playroom for years afterward. I think it was because I finally believed she was there and as such she had no reason to stay to convince me in my room late at night. =P

Recently, about a year before we moved out, both of our dogs passed away within 2 months of each other. The entire family saw them roaming the house in various places since then. Going through the door, lying in their favorite spots, and running on the porch and hillside where we played with them. You'd hear them barking at night, going through the dog-door, and they'd walk up to you during the day. They would lay at our feet on our beds at night, and nudge our hands. They never left us, and I am forever grateful about that. (Oh god I feel tears coming on now...)

I would also see shadows darting back and forth across our garage, and in the lot behind our house.

In every part of the house, I'd often get the feeling that I was being watched. I was always looking over my shoulder and checking my surroundings. I was never able to shake off that feeling. I think that once I may have even been touched. I was walking thought the playroom and something grabbed my hand. I think it may have been the little girl.

All up and down the street I lived on, there were reports of shadows, knocking sounds, talking, screams, and other such things. I once saw at our street sign leading onto our street a man standing next to it. It was very late at night, but as our headlights flashed over it I could see him clearly. He was tall and wearing very old clothing, an old suit and a top hat. He had a mustache and a beard and his hair was very thick. He just watched us go by as we drove by, and when I looked out the back window to see if he was still there, he was gone. It was in a certain place where it was very easy to get hit by a car, so no one walks on our street, there are no sidewalks or anything. I saw the same man a few times.

My old house was built in 1915. There are rumors that someone died in there at one point, maybe the little girl? Anyway, the entire area is very old, and I believe it is all haunted. I have seen things all over the area in houses, recreation enters, everything. Now that I have moved away, I of course don't see them anymore. A few new things as come up recently, but I will have to see these over a number of years to start to think that maybe my new house is haunted too. Who knows, maybe the little girl followed me here, eh? ;)

I firmly believe in ghosts/spirits. They are real, and I have been around them my entire life. They can't hurt you, but they are around. They're just curious about us. And quite frankly, I am extremely curious about them.

Wow, that's fascinating Arani... And that must have really scared you at first with the chanting. I wouldn't have slept xD But like you, would have probably got used to it.

I kinda believe in ghosts, but not..

I used to work at a Subway and I was pretty sure that was haunted for a number of reasons. First off, it used to be a Funeral director place. And we also read many years ago that someone drove into the building and died.

I thought it was a load of crap when I was first told about all this, untill I started doing early morning shifts and opening the store by myself. The first time we encountered 'Casper' as we called him was on the CCTV screen. Me and my friend were having a break, but watching the screen when we saw orbs and white flashed of light randomly appearing on the screen. I went out because I thought it might be the sun reflecting on the windows, but it was grey and miserable outside. There were no orbs visable on the screen however. Then it suddenly stopped. Never happened again after that day... But it freaked us out.

The next time was when I was opening and I couldn't find a tray to go in the oven. Most mornings it was left in the sink, but it wasn't this particular morning. I ran round looking for it. Panicing that I couldn't see it or find it. I then find it on the side by the till which i'd checked twice... It had just suddenly appeared.

There were other things that happened too. Tea bags would randomly fall off the coffee machine, things would go missing or be put in odd places and sometimes he would open doors.

Alot of people would laugh and say pfft. Wind, gravity etc. How do they explain the orbs or the missing tray which magically appeared?

Thats about as exciting as my encounters get though xD

Wow, how interesting. I think the orbs on the screen quite possibly could have been a disruption with the T.V. signal, or a glitch on the screen/on the program itself. It could also be paranormal. There isn't a real way to tell.

As for things disappearing, doors opening and such, is the door that opens on its own easy to open, or does it take a little force to open it?

Maybe you and other employees should consider setting up cameras for a night or two to record from when you leave to when you get back. just standard DVD recorders would probably work, with a small light attached so that you can see things on the screen. If things are moved around and stuff between when you leave and get back, then there might be something roaming around. The camera may have an easier time seeing it. Put the cameras pointed at hot-spots (areas with a lot of activity) and see if anything happens while no one is there at night and the ghost thinks it's safe to come out without being seen. You may get some strange audio on the recorder, or a glimpse of him moving about. Just some suggestions to help find out what these things really are. ^^

Haha, I don't work there anymore ;)

And the door was really heavy so not too easy to open :\ Me and my friend were going to stay over one night, but she wimped out and I wasn't doing it alone. The shop a few doors up is said to be haunted however and my friend works there so I might do some research :)

Oh, I see. xD Even so, you could suggest that they do that if it's still going on.

And if the door is very heavy then it can't just be opened by the wind. Something has to be pushing it open or something else has to be moving it. What it is could be paranormal, but I cant know for sure b/c I ain't there.

I was going to also suggest you guys look for drafts coming through windows that may be knocking down tea bags and such, but you don't work there anymore lol.

Sorry, I've gone into my Ghost Hunter mode. :P

@Arani I believe you, even though I've never heared or seen ghosts or lived in a haunted house. the world is one big mystery itself. but my mother always said when I was a little child that I refused to sleep with the lights out, and that I heared voices. but I can't remember that though.

This one time I woke up and I thought I heard something but I didn't
God I hope that never happens again I mean wow

No but I've never had any experiences like that.

But when my mom was little, she had a dog named Sam for years. He was a Jack Russell, and her dads sister gave Sam to my mom when she was little. But her sister Megan was determined that the dog was hers when he obviously wasn't. Anyway, Megan took Sam with her when she moved out of her parents house despite my mother not wanting her too. Megan started to babysit someone's German Shepard and she got fed up with Sam so she had my mothers dog put down without telling anyone even though it was completely obvious that any member of the family would take him because they all loved him to pieces. Apparently she told the vet he had bitten a kid or something so they would put him to sleep.

So to finally get to the 'paranormal' stuff. My mom said that her dog used to lick his chops sometimes and he would obviously make noise when he did so. She said after he died she could hear him licking his lips sometimes, and once when she was with her other sister Shona they both heard this noise. So Shona told my mom that she should try calling to the dog next time and see what happens. Mom says that she was younger at the time so she's not as sure of what she felt, but she said that the next time she heard the noise she was in bed and she called Sams name, and felt the a weight on the bed beside her as if the dog had jumped up.

Ooooh spooky right
She told me the story a while ago.

Thanks. And yes, that's likely true. My mom said that I heard weird stuff even from when I was 1 or 2. I only remember since I was about... 5 or 6?

Sad story, but it probably gave your mom some closure, knowing that he was still with her and in a good place. That's a great story! I find stories like that very interesting. The body may die, but the Love never leaves.

@Arani I see. well, if I might give you a hint... if you start being bothered again by ghosts/spirits, be very cautious and dont fully trust the entities. There is a chance that the spirits may not be even human in origin, but rather beings from another dimension which I think might be demons or evil spirits. I think they can shapeshift into human-like ghost. this is just my opinion though, but there are really people who had many negative experiences with entities/ghosts and have all their life ruined. I also hope you don't ever start playing with oujja boards, because its a very dangerous game that can easily go wrong. on my work, a colleague of mine once told me she played this game, but experienced something very terrifying that convinced her to never mess again with an oujja board.

@ Nick

Oh don't worry about a thing, I can handle myself around a few spirits. They can't harm us if we don't let them. I'm not bothered by them at all. They're just souls. We all have one. So who ares if they're roaming around, it's their right to do whatever they please. And evil entities? Sure there could be some around but again if you don't let them then they cant touch you. I know that through family stories. Gotta keep your guard up, but at the same time be curious about them. People who have had negative experiences with spirits just don't know how to handle themselves. They let their fear get the best of them. But ghosts are nothing to be afraid of. They're just energy. So if you don't let them scare you then they can't ever hurt you.

I know a lot about ghosts/spirits and everything similar. I have a few family members who are very connected to Paranormal things. They've taught me a lot about spirits since I was seeing them so much at my old house. I know exactly how to handle them and myself. Not to worry. But thanks for the tip. ^^
