Well how about after Zazu's "the morning report" he says something about poachers I can't rember exactly what but it is there. or TLK2 the logs that crushed Nuka were very neat and tidy possibly by a logging company?

I agree with you I would hate humans to be in the movie.
How interesting. I never thought of these as signs of human's existence. :D
if you lack any more signs, there was this episode in the Timon and pumba show where simba was captured by ancient romans and forced to fight in the colluseum XD

I seem to have missed that episode. I never watched the show completely. :(

I can safely say that The Lion King is not set in modern times. In both The Lion King and Simba's Pride, we get shots of animals moving past Mt. Kilimanjaro. Because Mt. Kilimanjaro is a very famous tourist attraction, a lot of people live around it: over 160,000 people. That many people can't live there without changing the way the area looks. And yes, if you go to Google Maps satellite view, you will see that the entire area around Kilimanjaro is all cities, towns, and farms. Far from the open savanna that The Lion Kin showed.

but then how did timon knew about guns when he pretended pumba's tail was a gun? I thought guns were from the modern age. unless were talking about the gunpowder age from a few hundred years ago...

To DGFone: Playing the Devil's Advocate, if TLK isn't set in modern times (as of the 20/21st century so to say), then, how Timon and Pumbaa know the lyrics of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", and the same with Zazu with "It's a Small World"? Both songs were written and recorded in the 20th century, and are still memorable today. If I can go with your words directly, Africa hasn't been colonized yet (and wouldn't so until the 1880s), though popular songs from yesteryear are obviously known by characters. This just doesn't line up with your statement that TLK isn't set in modern times. All I can say is that TLK just can't be placed in a specific time period because its creators meant for it to be timeless.

To Nicholas: I'm positive it was done for nothing more than humor. The way I see, the TLK movies are completely void of realism so our minds can suspend the logics of our world, and embrace the fantasy aspect these movies have.

Seriously you guys? How do animals talk in the first place?

The answer seems quite obvious to me. TLK is set in a universe totally different from our own.

And don't you think I know that? If you quoted my entire post, I clearly stated below that TLK universe is not of realism (as in our world), but of fantasy. So, I know the movies are set in a different universe.

What I actually think is that when The Lion King was made, there wasn't a question of whether humans existed or not. The lions are the humans. Sure, they look and walk like lions, but they think and act like humans.

So really, the answer is yes. Yes there are humans in The Lion King. But they are not Homo Sapiens.

Well, I think somewhere they exist, but I think they weren't mentioned just because they weren't important or needed, that's all ^^
