Falling into water from Zira's height (fifty feet or so) is the same by then as landing on solid concrete. Which is the same as crashing at 50 MPH on a road. Seeing as Zira did not have any seat-belts or air bags to save her... She's a goner.

I thought it was heavily implied in the movie that Zira dies. We see her fall into the river from a great height, and although the fall alone wouldn`t kill her off, we do see her paw as Zira is dragged along with the strong current, logs floating everywhere.. I always took it to mean that she drowned. I mean, Disney doesn`t have a history with dealing with bodies.. Mufasa was the exception there.
We don`t see Ziras body being smashed by the logs or washed up on the shore or anything like that, I just personally assume that the writers intended to kill her off.

... And Nuka =P his death was probably one of the most well done scenes in the entire TLK franchise, and yet so under rated. I mean you actually get to see him die in front of his mother.

But yeah, its a Disney movie... the bad guys will always be defeated and in TLK the only way to really do that is to kill them off.

Not at all. Water is nothing like concrete. When you land in water, it slows you down at a much, much slower rate than when you land on concrete. If her surface area is minimized on impact and the river is deep enough, she could survive.
