I'm fine with a bit of a gray area for moderating the profanity usage. If you're using it excessively, a moderator may PM you and ask you to tone it down a little. I don't think there has to be an quantifiable way of determining if someone has used profanity too much.
Excellent idea.
No profanity is BS. As long as it's not getting personal it won't harm anyone.
Big generalization is big, but yeah, that rule needs to go >.>
ok this backseat modding rule thing is idiotic. If members can contribute in keeping the forum running smooth that should be allowed. It´s like you standing on the street watching someone break into a house and doing nothing until the cops arrive, way too late.
Here's a better example that applies more to why the rule was made. You are standing in the street watching someone paint their own house and you go over to tell them you disapprove of their color choice. If you wanna tell new members the rules, that's one thing, but the problem is when you start acting like the police and trying to get things done your way. Case in point, a member once PMed another member on this site saying they should change the species of their original character. How exactly does that keep the "forum running smooth"?
Perm-banning should only be a last resort when someone is literally trying to destroy this forum and wreak havoc only for his/her amusement.
Or when they insult groups of people repeatedly and have multiple members report them for doing so...
