Was Zira mentally unstable to begin with?

If he wasn't nice to her I guess maybe she loved him because she felt needed by him. After all we don't know anything about Zira's background, although I imagine she wasn't looked after very well as a cub. Maybe even abused. So she may have seen him as the one person (erm..lion?) who needed her support and didn't treat her like sh*t.

What do I know, it's all speculation...

I think she was always, at least from cubhood, somewhat evil, but Scar's death really made her snap and turn pyscho.

Alright, I don't think Zira started out nutso, but rather I think she just gradually went insane more as time passed. I could imagine growing up in the wasteland Scar created was the start of it. Any number of things like family tragedy on top of the hard life the pride was living could have been the start of her descent.
Her love for Scar was what kept her together (pure speculation, I know). Anyway, then I believe the next blow her to mental stability was Scat's death, which probably made her speak out of term or do something rash which got her banished. Then the hard life in the outlands which would be almost identical to the life she led before in the ruined Pridelands made it even worse and then it gradually spiralled more out of control and finally reached a peak at Nuka's death.

Well, that's my opinion. Not a single factor, but rather several over a long period of time.

Well, being a fan-girl of her, an active Roelplayer for Zira's Persona and someone who is currently working on a post TLK:SP where she does survive, fiction. I would like to go on record by saying, WHAT TLK CHARACTER IS STABLE?

Honestly, even Sarabi, the most humble and noble female in the Series is "unstable" the simple over joy of her Son being around has made her laze away from the Hunting Rules of the Kingdom and just sit back. Old and ex-Queen or not, that isnt stable, a now Matron titled Sarabi (using her as my bracket here, as she is hailed as the most -normal- TLK character, NOT picking on her) is just..lazy.

But you dont care about all that mewing, you want to hear about Zira. Zira, of course is Unstable, all the TLK characters are in there own ways. What i should have started by saying this IS NOT A BAD TRAIT, its a good one. It allows for growth, and evolution in a character. OR a shrinking or de-evolution (Read sarabi)

This element is vital, VITAL to good story telling. Its what turns boring over used storys into something we can synch up with and grasp in our paws and hold to our hearts. Now I have read many a fic, and seen several very well done comics (deviant art -Dark times) of just this question. Why IS she the way she is (please..she isnt dead, get over it you Simba lovers :p). From what I have gatherd, she is this way due to Daddy issues. The cling, the need for glory and in short, attention.

But thats just me parroting others. What i will say for myself is this simple fact, insane, bloodthirsty, crazy..whatever, the fact is shes an insanely fertile female, who demands respect and is a solid leader who can provide, and sacrifice for her young, her pride, out of NOOOOTHING. You fat pridelanders come by muscle and strength easy, try building and then growing an empire out of dust and bugs.

Sorry..sorry..she just doesnt get any respect and threads like this drive me nuts! Its like poking at a Dead horse then screaming at the top of your lungs I GOT A DEAD HORSE HERE!! Sorry..fan girl in me..-.-
