"The Lion King" and "Felidae"
They are definitely on the opposite ends of the cat movie spectrum.

I like the setup of the movie, but I think the delivery was pretty shaky. The film's creators seem intent on sacrificing crucial details in exchange for shock value. Even when you put the XXX material aside, the story isn't told very well, which is sad because it was such a good story to begin with. The notion of a cat solving a murder of other cats is a pretty original concept. The book does a much better job of building up plot twists and exploring universal themes that seem swept over in the motion picture. One quick example: How many minutes pass between our introduction to Felicity and her death? Three? Four? Not many. In the book, she is a much more intriguing and three-dimensional character. I'm guessing most of you guys had to watch the film a second time to comprehend all the characters and be able to tie up loose ends in your mind. I know I did.

One final thought: The final scenes in both Felidae and The Lion King are surprisingly similar. Both are slow motion shots of two felines leaping towards each other with fire consuming everything around. Did I mention they were both released in 1994? Has to be concidence...right?

I seen this movie a while back, and i thought this movie was pretty decent, yet confusing a little bit, because of the mystory solving, and it does that in a weird and confusing way. x3 But i only know that this is a German movie. Some of the characters like Francis, Bluebeard, Pascal, and Nhozemphtekh(loong name xD), are interesting :3. The rest of the characters are okay. Anyway thats all i can say about this film. :3

I absolutely hated this movie. It's probably my least favourite film alongside Alpha and Omega. I can deal with gore pretty well actually, but the spilling of cats' guts? Cats mating? Cats being tortured? And all of it occurring frequently throughout the whole movie? I thought it was disgusting and the plot was just... weird. I'm sure the book probably executes the plot a lot better though lol. So I definitely will not be watching this ever again

I adore Felidae. Stunning, totally my kind of movie. Cats mating? Part of life. Cats getting experimented on in labs? Happens all the time. Cats killing other cats? Ha. I thought it was awesome, js. As for it being on the other side of the spectrum to TLK, I certainly prefer Felidae. Dunno why, TLK doesn't do much for me anymore and I have an avid love for all things horrible, I'm not going to lie. So basically, I like it yeah.

That was one of the most disturbing films I ever watched. I enjoyed it but I don't think I will watch it again for a very long time. You have to be in a certain mindset for it. I was actually depressed after I watched it. It's very good but NOT for kids. I remember the first time I heard about it, it was from a library book I borrowed. It was a book about Cats and it had everything from evolutionary biology to cats in literature (I don't recall seeing TLK mentioned). So I was in the part that talked about cat representations in media and I saw this. It was on the same page as 'Tom' from Tom and Jerry and Catwoman (the image used was Julie Newmar's Catwoman). I actually thought this was for kids because it looked like a Disney film/Don Bluth film. I am glad I didn't run into it until about 3 years ago!

Over exaggerating a bit, eh? I'd like to see how you'd take an actually mentally disturbing film like Requiem for a Dream. Felidae is disturbing for a cartoon, but no where near the most disturbing thing that I've ever seen. And with that said, I think that it's a very good film. I liked the plot, and the way it resolved a lot. The gore was a bit much sometimes, but it worked well, and it blended into the movie pretty well. As Jiirani says, all of the stuff in that movie is reflecting on stuff that really happens in life.

^I thought the nightmare scene with Gregor Mendel and the 'dead puppet cats' was scary as Hell.
