The music is what got me into, and is what will keep me in, the Lion King fandom. And the story of my association with is is rather long, but I feel like spilling it all out. It's kinda long, so I placed it in a spoiler box.
Spoiler: show
After the TLK HVS stopped being used, I basically forgot about the movie for many years. During that time, The Lion King for me was just another good movie. And it stayed that way until one time at the dentist's. I got the option to listen to music, and of all the choices offered, the only one I knew was the Lion King soundtrack. So I chose that. And while listening to it, remembering all the sounds that I had forgotten, a certain part of the score really stood out to me. Being on a cassette player, I didn't know what song it was, and even more silly of me, how far into the song it was. I go home with that short clip of the score in my head, and I don't forget it.

So for many years, I am still with the attitude that The Lion King is a goo movie, but now I also remember this short, half minute clip of the score, and I have no idea how to find it. Naturally, for many long periods of time, I forget about it, but every now and then I would make a fruitless search for it and give up (I didn't really use the Internet that much for trivial things yet).

And then one year we go on vacation. Summer of 2009 I believe it was. My family went to Idaho near Yellowstone National Park. There, one night, while using a laptop in the campground, I see a file "King of Priderock" in the music folder. Interested, I open it... and instantly fall in love. Also, despite a horrible internet connection, I look on Youtube once again for that short clip I always wanted to find. A long time of searching later, and I finally find it - it was the ending to "Under The Stars".

Fast forwards and I am home again. I now have King of Priderock and I know the name of what I had looked for several years. Once at home, I immediately begin to listen to the other songs, and in that process, I fell in love with the movie again.

I then start branching out my search, finding things like fan-fiction the "Rhythm of the Pridelands" CD, and of course, MLK itself. For a separate reason, I did not join MLK until half a year after I discovered it (the transition from lurker to member was funny), but now I know that, after a search spanning many years, I will not let The Lion King go.

TL/DR: The music is absolutely amazing. If it wasn't for it, I wouldn't be here on MLK.

I wouldn't say it's the only reason why I'm here, but the music is indeed a big portion of it. But, maybe you are right. Maybe I wouldn't be here if the soundtrack wasn't so freaking amazing.

*Something* about TLK really hit home and blew my socks off when I watched it for the first time since my childhood. Would it have happened if I watched it with the sound off? I doubt it.

But, I must also consider the possibility that it could be the other way around. Maybe I like the soundtrack so much because of what I have subconsciously associated with it. Who knows, really.

The music of the movie are so great. It's like.. when you hear it and have seen the movie once, you will always recognize that music.
Also, the songs of course. I could never forget Hakuna Matata! XD Or I can't wait to be king and everything.
It's just.. part of your childhood. C:
Also the music at the ending.. and the beginning. It's so perfectly fitting and beautiful music and yeah.. I really like the music. C:
