Anyway, vegetarianism does not appeal to me at all. I doubt many carnivores grieve for the meat they eat, so why should we? Besides, plants are living creatures too. And it's not like the animal won't be gobbled up by another hungry animal if we don't get to it first. Nature is cruel - deal with it.
Yeah I get what you mean!! I can't help but think that everything has feelings. But yeah i don't know. We must eat and so does everything else I guess!!

But i do not want to continue eating meat.
As far as I'm concerned, your doing animals an injustice by not eating meat. The few vegetarians out there aren't going to make a lasting impression on the meat industry, and the demand of meat isn't going to drop, because the general mass isn't going to stop eating meat because they think it's wrong. Those animals are still going to be killed, the only difference is, when you don't eat them, they died in vain.
A few people aren't going to make a lasting impression, on an industry that produces thousands of jobs in an Economy that is in really bad shape. If we got rid of it, all we'd be doing is pushing our Economy further downhill.
Essentially what I said to my morally incorruptable vegetarian non-alcohol buddhist brother. He responded with two arguments that completely changed my mind:
A) Vegetarianism is actually having a huge impact on the food industry, especially since many people now do it out of anger at the conditions animal are in.
B) That's complete crap and you know it. Morals are morals: the whole point is to stand up for what is right regardless of the situation. You are supporting brutal abuse of animals when you eat meat that's not locally grown/freerange, and there's absolutely no way around that. We've all seen that videos, seen the statistics. I'm not being a jerk, I eat meat too and I acknowledge that I'm part of the problem. I'm trying to eat more locally grown and freerange meat, but it is hard. Nobody said it was easy. I have a lot of respect for vegetarians.
@health risks: my brother, sister, girlfriend, and mother are vegetarians. We are all in fine physical condition as approved by our physicians; my brother ran college cross country and runs marathons, my sister ran high school cross country, my girlfriend is going to college for lacrosse. It is not nearly as difficult or as 'dangerous' as people are making it out to be. As long as you actually pay attention to what you eat (a concept foreign to me, being a teenager ;3) it's not very hard to come up with all the correct food groups. In fact, they eat -much- healthier than I do.
