Here, I'm going to come up with a random theory to appease Simba-Haters for a while.

Although I do very much dislike SP Simba, I'm tired of hearing debate about it >_<

After switching back to a diet of meat, his fur becomes less pale (which was due from lack of nutrition). Purple nose? He tried to copy Rudolph and failed.

I defenitely prefer Simba in the first movie, but I have to agree that he is not fat in SP, just more muscular I thought.

I'm bothered a little by the difference in coloring between the movies, and I'm only bothered by the character body build changes in the first parts of SP because it was the same time as the ending of LK 1. I wouldn't be bothered by it later in the movie when Kiara is more of an adult because their builds could have changed because time went by. Simba would have had time to gain muscle mass or whatever.

Perhaps the change of mass is symbolic? Maybe because Simba has over come the great obstacle of removing his Uncle from the throne and living up to the loss of Mufasa the creators wanted to show it made him stronger. Either that or they're just lazy. They made Nala's eyes blue and her eyes are green it's possible that they were just rushing to complete the film rather than paying attention to detail.

He's not fat. He's put on muscule weight and has "filled out", so to speak. Remember, he was living on bugs while living with Timon and Pumbaa. Once he's back in the Pridelands, he had access to meat once again, which is, after all, proper food for a lion. He's also older in SP (his face has matured). So of course he wouldn't be the same size as in TLK.

I agree.
I`ve never thought Simba looks "fat" in SP, just more muscular. He`s older and more mature in the sequel, and besides.. there`s no way any of the characters from TLK (who were appearing in SP) would look exactly the same, as the two movies were made by different people.
Nala looks different too. Her eyes have changed colour, and she too looks more "filled-out," in my opinion.
