Hey Nala, Hi Simba

Hey Nala, Hi Simba

:sweet: :smile6:

...and a hello to all of you too! I have been lurking here for a while and figured it was about time for me to join up. My real name is Autumn. Although I go by a variety of nicknames on the internet I'll use Farren here, which is the name of my ethiopian wolf character. Where to start then? I'm a long time fan of TLK, I was about nine years old when the movie first came out (yeah I'm old, don't do the math on that one)! As an animal lover and a fan of animation, I was instantly hooked and even had competitions with a friend of mine that summer to see who could see TLK more in a week. We were so addicted to it we refused to see anything else, and when we were forced to go see another movie (The Little Rascals) I used the bathroom excuse and snuck off into another theater just long enough to watch "just can't wait to be king"...I was a bad little kid. :P I used to put on TLK plays with my friends, where we'd dress up as the characters and play out the scenes and songs. I was always Simba (I just relate to the male characters more lol) Anyways, years later and TLK remains my favorite movie of all time. It was such a huge part of my childhood! I can't even tell you how excited I was to have it come back to theaters (especially since I never got to see it during it's IMAX release, no IMAX theaters near me at the time) I gathered up some friends (and a giant Simba plushie) and us "oldskoolers" pranced into the theater like a bunch of little kids. We even got the child's size glasses JUST because they had Simba on them.

The original TLK is by far my favorite and, IMHO, the best...however I enjoyed Simba's Pride too (despite me having some nitpicks with the plotholes it creates) and, since I've always loved Timon, I don't have a major problem with 1/2 like many people seem to. I had some issues with it sure (plotholes again, I won't go into all that here) but seeing Timon's back story, not to mention adolescent Simba, was adorable. My fav character well...I always have a hard time with that one! If we're talking Simba's Pride, Vitani...no question. When it comes to the original I'm utterly torn, I love Simba, Nala, Timon, the hyena trio (I love Ed, I used to be able to laugh like him perfectly haha) and even Scar. Oh the "Taka" back story on Scar is always very interesting IMO, I'd love if they'd do a pre-equal! No matter how "evil" a character is I refuse to believe anyone is born that way. I'd like to see Taka (Scar)'s full journey into madness. :slippedout:

...oh, but I'm on a ramble. Sorry, I tend to do that. :ocwap: Anyways, I also do artwork and set myself up an account on here for that too. I'm looking forward to joining in the forums here and have some good ol' fashioned rambles about one of my fav obsessions ever.

Hi there, and welcome to MLK!

Always great to meet another "vintage" fan, I was 12 then myself so don't worry about the math XD It's SO funny to see what a HUGE generational gap there is in difference of opinion about TLK 1.5, it seems like all of us who experienced the movie in theaters loved it and loved the chance to revisit that magic that TLK 1.5 offered, while all of those who came to the TLK franchise at a point AFTER Simba's Pride was introduced see it as such a Horrible Terrible Offensive Mockery  I thought it was lovely and lot of fun, glad to have someone else on here that feels that way, too, apparently we're few and far between, haha.

Welcome to My Lion King Forum and enjoy!

Welcome to MLK, Farren! Have a great time here! :D

It's always good to see new members join up who are truly fanatical in their TLK nuttiness. It's what makes this place so special, after all. I only got to see TLK in theaters with the 3D release, but I can imagine how you felt like when it first got released. Must have been awesome! See you around and welcome to the forums!

Thanks guys! Oh yeah I always welcome anything new involving TLK but at the same time I feel extra protective of it and I can nitpick on things ( I do have ocd afterall! :madman: ) I don't think 1/2 was meant to be taken all that seriously, although I have to admit it has it's moments! I found myself melting at the Simba scenes (and when Timon snuggles up with his paw, c'mon. Who doesn't think that was adorable.) I think the main plothole in 1/2 that bothers me is the end fight scene, when Timon & company distract the hyenas. Well, namely the hyena trio. That messes with the original movie's plot because this happens at the same time when - in the original - the hyena trio were listening in on Simba and Scar. When they overhear Scar tell Simba that they were the real enemies. If they didn't overhear Scar blame them for everything, what reason would they have to turn on him ( well other than the fact that he ruined the pridelands and they had no stinkin' entrees :upset3: ) but I think hearing him accuse them was that last push they needed. So, maybe I'm thinking too much into it but that, for some reason, is what bothers me the most in 1/2 lol

:embarrassed: I rambled again, sorry. Thanks again for the welcome!
