Delano didn't say anything as he took in the new information. By now, he was beginning to understand that the guards were trying to help him, and that it would be a good idea to lsten to them. "A-alright," he said quietly, trying to ignore the pain that talking was creating. "I understand." He coughed again, feeling his throat burn each time.

The guard again turned to leave, "I might be able to get you some more water later... Other than that there's else nothing I can really do." With that he left, leaving Muroki and Delano alone. Muroki let out a sigh of relief. Delano surely was lucky to still be alive. Most importantly, their plan to get him out during the trial was still possible. They got lucky, because as far as Muroki understood any other guard would have killed Delano on the spot for trying to escape.

As the guard left, Delano felt dread rise up in him. Muroki would almost certainly want to know why he tried to run, and Delano didn't have an answer for that. Even if he did, Muroki wouldn't be able to understand it anyways. And what's more, Muroki would also almost certainly get mad at him.

Delano began to edge away from Muroki as fast as he could, not wanting to experience his brother's anger.

Muroki expected himself to get angry at Delano, but he just couldn't get himself to get angry at Delano at the moment. He was still focused on how lucky he was to have his brother still alive and not dead. He felt Delano edge away from him and got slightly worried, "Is something wrong?" he asked, sounding nervous. "We're going to get you out tomorrow, isn't that exciting?"

Delano stopped moving when he heard Muroki's tone. So maybe his brother wasn't angry after all... But that was only one of the many problems that he felt now. There was one in particular that really made Delano nervous.

"I don't want them to see me," he whispered after a while, "I... I'm broken. And if they see me like this..." He shuddered, not wanting to imagine how the others would react upon seeing him again. "And Lina... she will hate me!" He tried to explain further why he felt that way, but couldn't get himself to say anything more.

Muroki, despite knowing that this place wasn't doing Delano any good, could not believe what he was hearing. "Lina's missing you like crazy." he said, trying to reassure his brother, "She desperately wants to come and see you you know... The first time I saw her smile for realwas yesterday when we told her that we knew of a way to get you out of this place..."

Delano grunted in disbelief. "But she didn't see me as I am now," he replied, venom in his voice. "If she saw me how I am now, she would've wanted me to stay here..." He didn't really know what he was saying, but wasn't anything new for a while now. "She wouldn't want to see me anymore. No one wants to see me anymore..." He buried his head under his paws, trying to shut the world away.

Muroki sighed, "Stop talking nonsense." if Lina would have seen him like this she would only become even more concerned about, but there was no logical reason to why she would suddenly not want to see him anymore. "Lina loves you and you know that." probably everybody around knew that. Delano might have a hard time adjusting back once they release him, but Muroki hoped it wouldn't be too bad.

Delano grunted again, still not believing Muroki. He decided that it was time to talk, even if it would hurt his throat. "I will tell she won't," he growled out, "because I killed her!" He heard Muroki emit his own grunt of disbelief, but ignored it. "I saw her eyes! That... accusing stare as I took her life from her! She didn't love me, she hated me!.. That's why I tried to run... You... you were there! You saw me!" He moaned in pain both physical and emotional. "I have no on to return to. They will all hate me."

He looked at the entrance of the cave, or rather, where it would have been if there was light to see it by. "That glare, it tore right through me... I couldn't bear it. That's why I ran..."

Muroki frowned. Delano's mental condition seemed to be even worse than it was yesterday. "What are you talking about? I talked to her yesterday evening, I saw her sleeping and breathing just fine before I came here now." he sighed, trying to comfort his brother somehow. "Think about it, why would you even try to do something like that? You didn't kill anyone, she's still alive."
