Being a juvenile buzzard, his feather coloration isn't fully developed. His backside and onto his head are a light ash brown. His chest and belly have a fair amount of creamy white splotched with copper and faded black. He has a white streak from his shoulder that tapers off to the beginning of his beak. Underneath his tail is almost solid copper, though some faint banding can be seen. His flight feathers are dipped in faded black on the ends, just like the end of his yellow beak. Because of the splotchiness of some of the color, a white band between the dark caps on the underside of his wings can't be made out. Light golden eyes stare out with deadly precision from faded black regions. For a young bird, he has a good wingspan with strong wings to carry his light body.
