Gracie got up and moved herself to the kill, she smiled widely at Shani,
"Of course I am, this is the first meal of our new lives". Chaka was sure he had ate his own weight, he smiled at his Mom and replied,
"And many more meals to come". Gracie chuckled and began eating, hopefully in time, they could all gain weight on the slim bodies. All three were under-weight.

For the first time in a long time, Shani felt safe, happy, and, well, full. In fact she was so happy that her happiness would in impossible to describe in words. It was great to finally be only her, her brother and her mother. The cub smiled and sat down as she watched her mother eat.

Gracie had soon finished, and by the time she did, it was sundown. The night life began. She went back into the cave,
"C'mon kids, time for bed", she said softly. Gracie was tired, and she yawned loudly.

While Shani was still hyperactive and excited by the fact that they would never see their cruel father again, she was also tired from all the walking, running and pouncing. "Alright mom." said she, letting out a yawn and following her mother inside before settling down in her paws, soon drifting off into a surprisingly peaceful sleep.

Gracie stayed up for a little longer than her cubs, admiring the view of the stars for a moment. She put her head down and drifted off to sleep, wondering what the next day would bring, and if there was a pride who'd accept her.

(-Time Skip- The next morning)

As the sun finally rose again, Gracie opened her blue eyes and the sunlight hit them, making the aqua blue colour dance around. She was a pretty lioness, and that had only been used for another's purpose. She had never been respected for who she was, and she had only been told she was beautiful by her parents, so, she never thought she would compare to any lioness.

She got up and yawned quietly, not wanting to disturb the cubs from they're sleep. Chaka was on his back, legs stretching out in what looked like a comfortable position. It must of been because he was still out like a light. She noticed that there was left overs from yesterday's meal, something that had never happened before with Roark around.
"That'll keep the cubs going", she thought to herself as she sunned herself under the morning rays, relaxing for once in her life.

Shani for once was able to sleep a sleep without waking up, not even once. Normally with Roark around she would wake up from nightmares, discomforts from his presence or anything else possible. Now she was able to slumber like a log, and she missed sleeping peacefully like that. She woke up a while after her mother did, letting out a yawn and smiling upon remembering that Roark was out of their lives for good. "Hey mom." she said, crawling over to her mother and nuzzling against one of her legs.

Gracie beamed at her daughter and she gave her a nuzzle back,
"Good morning honey, nice sleep?". She looked at her daughter a little more closely, she was glad she had inherited her eyes, she was a beautiful little cub, and she was going to grow up into an equally beautiful lioness.

Chaka was still dozing, he yawned for a moment in his sleep, making Gracie look to see if he had woken up, alas, he had just turned over to get more comfy. "Your brother...I hope he doesn't sleep like this everyday from now on", Gracie chuckled, focusing back on her daughter again.

Shani nodded, purring at her mother's nuzzle. "Yes mom." she stared back at her mother for a few moments, blinking a few times with a slight confusion. She looked at her brother, giggling at what her mother said. "He's probably just tired..." how could he not be? When living with Roark, even sleeping required energy.
