Foreign Language Topic

I`m trying to learn the hiragana alphabet, it`s japanese. But in the japanese language they put both hiragana, katakana and kanji characters all in one sentence. I asked a friend who knows japanese why they don`t use just either one of the alphabets, because you write any japanese word using only hiragana. He explained it`s because kanji is more efficient, and it saves space.

By the way, the chinese characters for 1, 2 and 3 are ridiculously simple. They are as follows: 一 二 三

I speak Dutch (Flemish really, as I'm from Belgium).
And German.

A bit French ...

I doubt anyone's jumping to learn any of those 3 languages :P

I speak some Chinese, some Swahili and some Hebrew, but not enough in any of them to be considered fluent.

Are you from Limburg? I love that accent! hehe
My neighbours are from there, I love listening to them.
(and I live about 15 minutes from Maastricht)

@ AdAstra: can't help you there really with the French, hehe, I just know all the basics, so I can manage while being at Disneyland Paris :P

I've had French for 9 years, in school mainly, and 1 year I took an actuall class after I was graduated, but it just didn't help at all.

I absolutely love the French songs from TLK (and the musical), and I can sing them along, but I have no clue what so ever (!) what I'm singing, haha!

@Woeler1: I live next to Genk, if that should ring a bell :)
But some stores in Maastricht are actually much closer then the ones where I live, lol.
