While Zira too waited her Scar's word she felt her tail being tugged by Simba and fought off the urge to even growl much less lash out of the cub. He just narrowed her eyes at seemingly nothing and dug her claws into the ground some.

Ranger watched the entire scene interestedly. Just earlier that morning, he had overheard his Uncle Mufasa tell Simba that he was never to go near the elephant graveyard, but he decided he'd better keep his mouth shut lest one of his parents snapped at him. Instead, he answered Simba,
"I think it's really cool that you're gonna be king one day. In the meantime, that looks like fun!," he exclaimed and began to bat at his mother's ear, giggling happily while he did so. He knew he was being annoying, but he didn't care. He didn't get to be annoying very often.

Scar greeted his son with a curt nod when he arrived, he heard what Zira had said and grinned.
"Yes, yes of course. With Simba being sooo clever and all". He pulled his nephew close to him, "Now Simba, promise me you'll never go to that dreadful place".

He smiled down the cub genuinely, of course he actually wanted him to go. He heard his son comment, but ignored it completely, focusing on the task in hand, aka Simba.

Simba smiled. "Ok, Uncle Scar and Aunt Zira, I promise that I won't go," he said.

"Oh course you won't" Zira said smiling back at Simba as she lay down. "Now run along and play. As for you..." she paused the sentence, scooping up Ranger in her paws. "Perhaps you'd like a bathe, hm?" she looked down at the cub knowing full well a bathe is something they hated most.

Simba nodded. "I promise I won't, Uncle Scar and Aunt Zira. I've got to go now. I want to go play with Nala. I'll see you around," he said as he ran off. He then went down to the sunning rocks, where his mother, Queen Sarabi, rested, along with Nala and her mother, Sarafina. Although Nala was in the middle of a bath, he didn't care. He went right up to her. "Hey Nala," he began.

Nala was in the middle of her bath, but when she saw Simba, she smiled.
"Hey Simba".

Mufasa was nearly back at Pride Rock, he looked up at Scar's ledge, and noticed that he, Zira and his cub were up there. He shook his head, still disapointted that he didn't turn up for the ceremony.

Simba smiled at Nala. "Come on, Nala. I just heard about this great place," he said, waiting for his friend to join them.

"Simba, I'm right in the middle of a bath", she replied back. She enjoyed them, and wanted to take her time.

By now, Sarabi had woken up from her nap and saw Simba. It was time for his bath. "And it's time for yours," she said as she grabbed him by the head, picked him up and proceeded to begin licking him.

Simba hated this. "Mom, you're messing up my mane!" he said as he squirmed. Finally, it was over. "Ok, I'm clean. Can we go now?" he asked.
