" Got it Dad, stealth is key. Move like shadows in the dark, strike like a flash of lightning, then vanish. So we should be more than mere wolves in the eyes of our prey, right Dad?" Zen-Aku asked Thor.

Thor nodded. "Yes. Now, let us get into the foliage and select our target. When we attack, stay out of range of their hooves. They're sharp," he said.

"So, should me and the other pups just watch and learn dad?" Zen-Aku asked.

Thor nodded. "Yes. The actual killing of the victim is the most dangerous part of this whole thing. I will show you how it's done. Now, let's get into position," he said.

"Ok Dad." Zen-Aku grinned happily as he eagerly wagged his tail.

And so, the adults got into position and selected the most unaware caribou in the herd. On a prearranged signal, they ran to it and began biting into it, finally bringing it down. Before long, it was dead. Thor howled to let the pups know that a meal was now at hand.

Zen-Aku barked happily as he was first to eat, as the Alpha's pup, he'd eat first.

Aleu nudged her son towards the carcass. "All right, let's eat," she said as the last of the herd fled the scene. She then had a thought. "Remember, be quick and be ready to move if a bear challenges us for the meat," she added.
