Delano sighed, annoyed. He had hoped that Kasi might understand without him having to tell about his plan, not with Lina right there, but now he was cornered. He had to tell. "Last night, I was thinking about what can be done-"

"Quit stalling, Delano!" Kasi blurted out. "Just tell us already!"

"I... I'm going t go undercover," Delano said, getting to the point. "If we can't learn anything, I will. I'm going to find out what's going on, and then you will know what to do." He saw that both Kasi and Lina were about to argue. "Kasi already knows about this," Delano added, "he didn't try to change my mind, so don't start now."

Lina, despite Delano asking them to not argue, still had the urge to try and change his mind. Going undercover was probably the most dangerous thing that anyone could do, especially at a time like this. He couldn't be serious about this could he? However, seeing his expression, she knew that he was serious and that there was no way to change his mind. Eventually, all that came out of Lina's mouth was a simple question, "When are you leaving?" she also wanted to ask when will he come back, but there was a pretty high chance that he would never come back.

Delano hesitated. He wanted to leave as soon as he could, but not before he knew that the others are safe without him. "I don't know," he finally said, "I want to go as soon as I can, but not right away." He looked at Kasi. "When I know that it is safe to do so, I'll go."

He walked over to Lina, but she looked away. "I'll be alright," he told her, "I'll be back soon enough. And then we will all be able to settle down and live our lives as we want."

'Soon enough'? How quickly and safely was Delano thinking he could do this? The entire police was finding nothing, so how was he expecting to find anything on his own and even come back alive? "How can you tell?" she asked simply, knowing that there was no way for anyone to tell. Delano might be walking to his death yet he was there telling her that everything would be fine, but Lina was not clueless and she knew that she just might not see him again. It was bad enough when he and Muroki left in the first place but now to have him leave again and god knew for how long... Before Delano could even think of an answer she came to a decision of her own, "I'm coming with you."

"No!" Before he can stop himself, Delano said it. "I mean, it's too dangerous. I'm going to keep you safe. So if you come with me, it... He started pacing, trying to figure out what to say. "I don't want you to go, Lina. It's too dangerous... I won't let you go!" Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Kasi shaking his head, but ignored it.

Walking closer to Lina, Delano hoped that he didn't go to far. "I don't want you to go," he whispered, "stay here with the others. Be safe."

Lina, having never heard Delano raise her voice at her before, was a little taken aback when he did raise his voice. She wanted to continue arguing and to convince him to either let her come with him or stay behind as well but she could already tell that it would be no use. She gave him a slight silent nod of agreement before looking away, "If you have to go then just go." while she wanted him to stay, having him there while knowing that he might just get up and go away at any given moment was even worse.

Delano saw that Lina was about to argue back, but she gave up instead. And it hurt him to hear the tone that she used. Like she was giving up on him. "I don't want to leave you," he said, nuzzling her. "and if I thought it would be safe enough for you to go with me, I would gladly allow you to accompany me. But it's not safe. I don't want you to get hurt." He closed his eyes, resting his head against hers. "Please understand. I'm not gonna leave you. I'll always be with you, and you will be with me... but when I'll leave... I'll return as soon as I can."

Lina could barely stay there knowing that Delano could just leave all of a sudden even if she did know that he would never go away without telling her or anyone else. "How can you be so sure?" she asked finally, managing to somewhat calm down by resting her head against his. "How can you tell that you'll come back?" she didn't really want him to answer that because his tone would probably show that he doesn't know the answer. Nobody would know and only time will be able to tell, and that was what she hated the most about this.

Delano knew he was trapped. There was no way for him to guarantee that he would return in one piece if at all. And Lina knew this. But he couldn't admit this. "Because I know I will," he answered after a while, trying to smile, "nothing will be able to keep me away from you for long." He continued rubbing his head against Lina's, trying to enjoy every moment of it. Lina was right in wanting him to stay. What he was going to do could easily lead to his death. So if he only had a limited amount of time left to spend with her, he wanted to maximize it.

"Don't worry," he whispered into her ear, "everything will be all right."

Lina wanted to continue arguing and asking Delano to not go but she again held back from doing so. Because of what she just told her a few minutes ago, she wanted to spend every single moment with him until her left. If something ever happens to him it would make her devastated, and if anything did happen she'll be better off not knowing about it. She'd prefer to live the rest of her life in doubt than to know for sure that he was gone. "Stay here with me until you leave okay?" she asked softly, closing her eyes just to open them again every once in a few seconds to make sure that he was still there.
