Umeme giggled slightly when Muroki nuzzled her. "Yeah, well I also care about you," she answered, "so take care of yourself." She stared deep into his eyes. "I mean it. I don't want you to go and get yourself killed. Nor Delano. He means a lot to Lina. And she's my sister, and I'm not going to watch her discover his body, just as I won't find yours." She leaned back into Muroki. "So please, be afraid for yourself. I want you to," she whispered, "because I care for you, and I want you to live. For me."

Muroki smiled slightly when Umeme leaned against him again, feeling really delighted that she cared about him just as much as he cared about her. He knew that if it would ever come down to it he would rather sacrifice his life in exchange for her well being, and it made him realize one more thing. "I love you Umeme. I don't want to ever be without you. If something ever happens to you I..." he paused, not knowing how to continue.

Umeme felt Muroki's breath catch as he failed to continue. So she finished for him. "you won't lose me. I won't allow it." She smiled. "Nor will you ever be without me. If you have to leave me for some reason, I will still be here," she pressed a paw on his head, "and here," she moved her paw to his chest where his heart was. "So you see, I will always be with you, just as you will be with me."

Muroki was actually able to feel his heart beating when Umeme placed her paw on his chest. He smiled at what Umeme said, "As I will be with you." he said, repeating her words before embracing her and holding her close. He was feeling a lot better now, and he also felt certain that someday this will all be over, then he and Umeme will be able to finally live a normal life, together. "I love you so much." he said gently, not wanting to ever leave her side.

Umeme closed the embrace between her and Muroki. "I love you too," she whispered, "and this ill never change." She stayed next to him, enjoying the contact between them, and for once in the past few days, able to forget about their troubles.

Muroki felt the happiest surge of emotions he had ever felt in his entire life when Umeme said those 4 words. Nothing else beside this moment seemed to exist. He was hardly able to find the words to even begin to describe just how happy he was right now. "You make me the happiest lion alive." he said eventually, closing his eyes as she continued to rest against him.

Umeme closed her eyes as she rested against Muroki. Despite everything that was going on, she felt happy again. That is, until a bird flew right next to the den entrance. And it wasn't any ordinary bird either...

"On the orders of Police Chief Sanders, I request permission to enter this den!" The bird called out, very loudly.

Delano managed to fall asleep next to Lina again, but was woken up by the bird's squawk. "Ughh... What's going on?" He asked, lifting his head in order to look around. Next to him, Lina was also starting to move. "Who's the bird?"

Umeme simply stared at the bird. "What are you..?"

Either not hearing them, or ignoring them, the bird again squawked loudly "I demand permission to enter! Please, I have a tight schedule!"

Lina also woke up from the noise. Muroki looked at the bird with a confused expression, "Uh... you can enter I guess..." there was obviously no harm a bird could do to anyone. "Who are you?" the bird said that he was sent by the police chief. While the chief's name didn't seem familiar to him or meant anything, Muroki was already considering the option that the bird was there to look for him and his brother.

The bird entered the den, ruffling its feathers in the processes. "I came here because I have been tasked to inform every den in this area that there is a new temporary law passed." Clearing its throat, it began to speak in a very official manner. "In the light of the recent disturbances, it is deemed too dangerous to be outside of a den after sunset. As of today, until the current situation improves, anyone wandering outside in the dark can be, and will be arrested and tried as a hostile intruder. That is all." And just like that, the bird turned and flew out of the den.

Delano's jaw clenched at the description of the attacks as just "disturbances", but he let the bird go. Clearly the creature was told to memorize the message and repeat it many times. The bird was not at fault. "So that's it then," he sighed, "what? They're just giving up? Keep us from going outside and seeing who survives starvation?"

Muroki frowned, "Distrubances?" lions going around and killing everybody was way more than a disturbance. One didn't need to lose someone close to him in order to understand that. How could the police chief tell a messanger to say something like that? Not that he was familiar with whatever he was doing, but wasn't he meant to be considerate? Muroki looked at his brother, "Well we can hunt during the day... That's for the starvation..." then again, Laini and Dakri were attacked while it was still light out. "They can't just give up..." he said, mostly to himself.
