Pretty much any book with dogs. "Old Yeller" & "Where the Red Fern Grows" were especially traumatic I agree, but even James Herriott's All Creatures series got me. I read one just this summer "A Dog's Purpose" that had me crying to the point of wanting to puke.
So yeah, the dogs have it. It's a given, I wasn't even surprised when Sirius dies in Harry Potter, because he was a dog after all, they always f-----g die.

I deeply regret this but out of the few books that i have managed to complete, Steven Kings - Green Mile, That is some real sadness there! Beautifully descriptive as you are shared the prison officer's reflections and thoughts throughout the ordeal.

The ending of Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix made me cry. Hard and long. The tears were streaming down my face. I`ve never reacted so strongly to a book. Ever.

^ Good lord, I forgot about that one. "Lord of the Flies" and "All Quiet on the Western Front" frigged with me pretty bad in the Classic Lit category as well. Especially "All Quiet", sentimentally dramatic maybe but ffs the kid was just listening to a beautiful free bird.... 
"Lord of the Flies", though....."Night" is probably the only other book that hit on quite the same level of, "I have zero confidence in god or humanity now".
