If this is legit (which idk if it is), what purpose would the government have in poisoning us?

If it's real, then it's sickening, but it sounds like a conspiracy theory to me.

These are simple contrails.
The conspiracy theories come from people who don't know their physics. DO YOUR RESEARCH, conspiracy theorists.

Here is how a contrail is formed in simple words: When water is turned into vapor, the gas rises up into the cold upper atmosphere. There it gradually cools down to its condensation point, but get this: it doesn't actually condenses. So you have a lot of water in the air, ready to turn into liquid, but still in the form of gas.

What is needed? Something not a water molecule. Any impurity. Such as a plane. When an airplane flies though the air, the different electron configurations of the metal surfaces allow the water in the air to condense, clump together, and form what we see as contrails.

And if you want to try out something very similar, (I strongly recommend that you do NOT), just microwave a cup of water. It's the same process in reverse: water ready to boil, but no impurities in it to start the changes. Which is why microwaving liquids is so dangerous: you can reach the boiling point, the water won't boil, but as soon as you touch the container, an impurity gets into the water, thus creating boiling water, and the entire thing blows up in your face, causing severe burns.

So in the air, it is just a regular physics phenomenon. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to take a few Physics classes.

Thank you DGFone. I agree, I was confused greatly as to why it would be chemicals and such.

But what if it is? o__O One thing I don't get is the planes just switching directions and going in X's and Tic-Tac-Toe motions. So there's tons of people that have fun with private planes? Huh? xD

It's all conspiracy, and I hate conspiracy because people will believe it instantaneously even if it's obviously or very likely false.

Besides, wouldn't you think SOMEONE that knows about this would squeal about it if it were true?

The reason why there won't be any flying cars (even though the technology exists) - air traffic control. In order to prevent air collisions, which tend to be more fatal than car collisions (for obvious reasons), air traffic control has all airplanes within it's area fly a certain pattern if they are at a certain altitude and perimeter from an airport.

As contrails can last a long time, the pattern of many aircraft can accumulate into these grid-like patterns. Even more effect if there are many airports in the area - I would know. I live in the bay area, so I have no less than 3 international airports (Oakland, San Francisco, and San Jose), a small number of general aviation airports, and a number of military bases. Let's just say that on many days, I can see more aircraft than birds.

But if it were true, I'd consider the American government more evil than Hitler by spreading this killer "poison" everywhere.

And, no matter how lame someone thinks the government is, I doubt they'd ever consider mass genocides. D:
