Morning came. What light there was, came in and flooded the private den. Kokota and Ashur were already up and away. Kivuli as only just waking up. The young male opened his eyes at stretched. It took some time for him to remember the past days event. It suddenly all hit him at once. 'Darn it!' He said 'I'm supposed to be training but I slept in' Rushing out the cave and across the side of Priderock, Kivuli thought to himself 'I'm such an idiot for sleeping in. I hope Kokota and Ashur don't think bad of me. I wonder if they are already at the graveyard?' Kivuli's thoughts were interrupted. He had collided with something

The force of the collision sent Kivuli on his back and skidding across the floor. He looked up, only to find Scars angry face staring at
him. 'Oh great, this is just want I need' he thought sarcastically. Scar glared menacingly at Kivuli 'Watch where you are going you pathetic whelp, and where are you off to in such a rush?' Kivuli stood up and shook himself off 'That's none of your business' Kivuli started to walk off again before Scar blocked his path 'What you do in my lands is always my business' hissed Scar. Kivuli snapped 'My life is nothing to do with you. You tyrant!' Scar lost his temper and smacked Kivuli down 'How dare you speak to royalty like that! Ill show you why I am king'

Scar walked over and raised his paw to strike 'Great I guess this is my end' thought Kivuli. Suddenly a lion jumped out and knocked Scar away. It was Sarabi. She quickly bent down to the adolescent 'Get out of here quickly' she sad. Kivuli nodded and wasted no time to get away. He didn't go far. Only behind a rock 'Sarabi I hope you now what you are doing. Hes going to get you for that one' With those thoughts going through his head, Kivuli looked round the corner to see what was happening. Scar was back up and facing Sarabi

'How dare you interfere with my affairs. You know the punishment for that!' Scar snarled. Sarabi stood strong, she knew what she was doing. 'Then go ahead and kill me. You know as well as I do that you will get nothing from the others if you do' Scar backed off a little. She was right even though Sarabi was technically not queen, the other lionesses treated her as such. If Sarabi was killed, the other lionesses would not perform their duties. Some would even run off. 'I don't know why you bother protecting that boy, hes a nuisance' said Scar

'He is only looking out for his brother and his friends. If you were more compassionate, instead of being a cold blooded tyrant....' Sarabi's line was cut short. Scar had smacked her down 'No Sarabi, please be ok' Thought Kivuli. Scar was back in his temper. 'Don't you dare talk to me in such a manner again. If you do, I will throw you of Priderock, like I did his mother!' Kivuli and Sarabi stared blankly at Scar 'Yes that's right, she never fell. I killed her. I was sick of her cuddling that boy and her brother, ignoring her duties'

Kivuli's, eyes were filled with tears. They ran down his cheeks like a waterfall, drenching the ground below. That hateful day played in his mind. He was just a small cub playing with Kokota. He heard a scream, looked up and watched as his mother fall to her death. She was a strong lioness, white soft light grey fur, and deep hazel eyes. Other memories came back. The good times, how she always looked after them 'Mother... you were always there for us. Even though we had it rough, you kept us smiling. Played with us, fed us, kept us warm at night. I thought it was an accident when you left us alone. Now I know the truth'

Kivuli teeth and claws were drawn. His muscles flared up. Rage had consumed him. Tears were still running from is hate filled eyes, as he looked at Scar, his mothers killer. 'Scar I swear by my flesh blood and soul I will kill you! I'm tired of everyone living with hurt and pain. I've had enough! Today, I train. Tomorrow.....YOU DIE!!!!' In flash, Kivuli dashed for the graveyard. Never before had her moved so fast, or felt so powerful 'Your hours are numbered you tyrant! Your time has come!' Kivuli continued of his run

A very emotionally driven part this was KK. ^^ Very nicely done once again. You captured Sarabi's character wonderfully and I love the backstory and insight you provided in this part. It really helps to get the reader on Kivuli's side, as if they weren't already though. lol. ^^ It gives us a reason to sympathise with him on a deeper level than just living with a cruel overseer. hehe. Aside from a few tiny spelling and tense usage of words, it was a very enjoyable part and I can't wait to read what happens next.

Morning Practice

At the graveyard, Kokota and Ashur were sparring. They had been up and training a good couple of hours already. Breaking the bones, and strengthening their fangs and claws on the skeletal walls. That was then, this was now. The two lions were circling each other, both had menacing grins on their faces. Shards of broken bones lightly scratched their paw paws as they moved. Ashur went first, charging at Kokota. Kokota braced himself for the impact. At the last moment Ashur jumped over Kokota's head and slammed down on his back, forcing him to the floor. As Ashur backed off then charged for a second run, Kokota was just coming to grips with what happened.

As he looked up Ashur was was charging again. With almost no thinking time, Kokota rolled out the way, but left his legs stretched, which made Ashur trip and skid across the floor, receiving little cuts from the bone fragments and sharp rocks that scattered the area. Both lions got back up and charged at each other. They kept their claws and fangs back from the fight, they didn't want to cause each other any pain, but they still made the actions as real as possible, swiping and lightly biting. Both were evenly matched. As they set up for another run, Kokota came up with a plan

The pair charged at each other. It looked like it would be a head on collision, that is until Kokota dropped and skidded under Ashur, who was baffled by what happened. Kokota then jumped up flinging his friend to the side. He had done what Kivuli had accomplished before, when Ashur stalked them yesterday. This fight was over, with Kokota coming out on-top yet again. He walked over to where ashur was lying on his back, and looked down on him muzzle to muzzle 'I don't think your ever going to beat me Ashur. Not when Kivuli is my brother' The red maned adolesant clambered onto his paws and shook the dust of his light tan fur

'Yeah, whatever. I let you win to make you feel better' he replied. He was still smug even though he had been beaten by Kokota twice. That was just his way 'Where is your brother anyway?' Kokota was over by the rat pile, picking out a couple of the best and biggest. 'No idea, he was asleep when I left, so when he wakes up he wont be happy, he hates being late' Kokota then picked up two rats and walked back over to Ashur. They took one each and then lay down to eat 'Anyway, you must have been up early Ashur, you were out before I was even awake'

Ashur was already tearing into his snack. He gulped it down as quick as he could so that he could reply 'Well I'm really looking forward to finally be free. I am also that weakest of us. That much was proved yesterday and just now, I need to catch up' Nothing more was said. They both just snacked down on the rats. It was quiet in the graveyard. It used to be the hyenas home, but now they just littered the Pridelands like vermin. The quiet was disturbed however. In the distance sounds of bones could be heard smashing and breaking. The adolescents stared at each other, both of them had the look of fear in their eyes
