Sarabi stared at Rafiki with a blank face. She couldn't help but feel worried about what the "great trial" was, that pride was going to face. "What did he mean by 'those on the dark path are not always lost forever?" She wondered why she wanted to know more about this, she felt this was an important aspect. She looked over at Mufasa, feeling a sense of hope that he, the king, would be able to keep things in order.

Shujaa looked at Sarabi. "Could he be talking about Scar and Zira?" he asked, referring to the comment about those on the dark path.

"It made me wonder the same thing," Sarabi replied, though still in denial that Scar, and Zira would cause harm to the cub.

Shujaa found a comfortable spot. "Well, until Scar and Zira prove that they aren't going to hurt your or my cub, I won't trust them. I'm especially wary of Zira. I can't imagine how jealous she is of you and Sarafina," he said in response to Sarabi's comment.

Sarabi thought about what Shujaa said, and decided he was right to feel distrustful, he just wanted to prevent anything from happening to keep his cub safe. "We will keep a watchful eye on Scar and Zira when they are on their own." She instructed as she knew jealousy could cause any good-hearted individual to do wrong. She then went to rest to remove the stress of worrying about the future.

Shujaa then got comfortable and began to rest, trying desperately to forget Scar and Zira. Finally, he was able to do so. The months began to tick by, and no further incidents happened. Then, one day, the call went out that the heir was to be born. Zazu raced over and summoned Rafiki. The mandrill went to the queen. "Do not worry, your highness. I am here to help you," he said.

Sarabi was filled with excitement and happiness on this joyous day. "Thank you, Rafiki, you have been of much help through the months of the pregnancy, and we are happy you are with us today to celebrate this wonderful occassion." She replied to his assurance that he would be there to support them. The fact that she had support throughout the journey they were going to face made her feel like everything was going to be alright, and she didn't feel haunted by "the great trial" that was mentioned months before.

Sarabi never thought she could feel as ecstatic as she did while she held their newborn male, and it made the day more enjoyable that she was sharing the excitement with Sarafina and Shujaa who were also bringing a new cub into the pride. She looked down at the new cub and smiled, then made the decision as to what his name would be. "He shall be named.. Simba," She announced.

Zazu went over to Mufasa and Sarabi. "Congratulations on the birth of a healthy new son. I'm certain that he'll make a wonderful king one day," he said.

Shujaa also looked, the sight filling his heart with excitement for the birth of his own cub. "He's a very handsome lion, just like his father," he said.

The queen's pregnancy had finally come. And judging by the occasional kicks coming from her heavily swollen belly, Sarafina's new cub too was clearly well on it's way; any day now if she had to guess. With this in mind, Sarafina knew that it would be best to remain off her feet and resting as much as possible. However, today she could surely make an exception in order to congratulate her friend.

"Oh, he is absolutely gorgeous, Sarabi," Sarafina purred, gazing longingly at the golden-brown ball of fur nestled safely between the queen's paws. The sight alone was enough to make her doubly eager for the time when she too would have a cub to love and nurture; a time that was hopefully not at all far off. Sarafina stared lovingly at the bulge in her stomach, as she often did recently, as if her motherly instincts alone would grant her eyes the ability to look straight through the skin to her precious cub.

"I can only hope that my own offspring will be half as handsome - or beautiful - as yours has turned out to be."

The green-eyed huntress smiled once more.

The infant Simba was curled in his mother's paws. Little did anyone know, however, that this was the last happy moment the cub would have with its rightful mother.

Zazu looked around. The cub was born, and that meant that there was one thing left. "Well, your majesties, shall I summon the subjects for the presentation?" he asked.
