When her mate walked back into the king and queen's chamber wearing a sour expression, Sarafina did her best to comfort him. Looking as if he wanted to strangle something, that 'something' she imagined to be Scar, Zira, or both, Sarafina knew that his negotiations with the king's brother and his mate had not at all gone the way he had wanted. Though she couldn't help but feel it was no different than he, or anyone else present, had been expecting.
Scar had always been a bit of a loner; Sarafina could vouch for that. However, he'd always used to come to the more important events, if only to keep Zazu from showing up on his "private" overhang and lecturing him on the importance of attending such events. Nowadays, he had Zira. She only seemed to accentuate all the worst qualities in Scar, least of all his lack of motivation to attend anything that wasn't his ascension to the throne. And that, everyone knew, was destined to be kept locked up in Scar's subconscious.
When Shujaa suggested that the king and queen be wary of Scar and Zira around the new cub, her thoughts instantly jumped to morbid images of the possibilities, and it wasn't long before she begun to think of not only the queen's cubs, but her own as well. She realized just in time that she was about to audibly gasp due to the horrors her mind was showing her, and she managed to stifle it. Sarafina knew that she had to pick her words wisely. Shujaa had very little patience for Scar's antics, and when he got into one of these moods, it could be hard to talk him down. Scar was a bit shady at times, but he'd never actually stoop so low as to harm a defenseless cub... would he?
"Eeeasy now, Shujaa," she cooed, trying to assuage her own fears as much as she was trying to comfort her mate, "There's no need to be so cross. Scar is his own lion, and while we all wish he would choose to be more agreeable, we can't very well force him to come... or even to be happy about what we all know is a joyous occasion." She finished her last sentence with a grim undertone, hinting at the fact that she too was clearly disturbed by Scar's disinterest.
