Malaki was born soon after Simba's reign finished and Kovu and Kiara became king and queen. Malaki is Kovu and Kiara's son.

Malaki grew up with two other lion cubs at his side; Mara and Dorian. Mara and Mal became friends quite early and were always very close like Simba and Nala but Malaki and Dorian was a completely different story.
They were you're classic enemies fighting for the girl.
