Did You Think It Was A Little Offensive When...

^ I agree also. I hate the way Timon mocks the EPIC beginning of TLK by saying something about him being hungry.
The only thing I find offesive is when they scream like total idiots (mocking Mufasa's scream on the fall to death) and fall into that river. I mean, seriously, that river never existed, remember when Scar sent the hyenas to kill Simba and Simba came across a dead end and had to climb up some crevice? Yeah, the way the gorge is put up in TLK.5 is messed up. Then of course you realize Pumbaa says 'Shall we run for our lives?' with a sarcastic smile across his face, kinda mocking Simba and Mufasa's tiring escapes while, yes believe it or not, RUNNING. Also, the way the wildebeest are set up in TLK.5 at the end of the stampede when Timon and Pumbaa are floating is so irritating, they are so calm, grazing peacefully. If they all went to Simba's presentation then they should have realized the unintentionally trampled the king to death. I have to agree on this so far.

I can'r help but love Timon and Pumbaa, they are funny and carefree and thats what I like about them. TLK 3 was ok but not as good as the first two.

Yeah it was very offensive Timon and Pumbaa are really funny and I love them but really! Disney you are so cruel do you want us to mock the dead! little kids mock you disney as if you did good things! Ok Timon and Pumbaa should have never made that movie. Ok I get it there fictional characters but still. I just can't believe they would ruin such a sad and dramatic seen with this bull crap. (Excuse my language)

I didn't really like that film at all really. It was poorly made.
Also, I think it was a bit like mocking what Mufasa stood for. Another epic mistake by Timon and Pumba, again, along with ever making those idiotic jokes.

I think it was slightly offensive, though I hated all their scenes that had to do with screwing with the first LK movie.

My views on Timon and Pumbaa change with each thing I see them in:

TLK1: They're funny and enjoyable characters who make appropriate jokes and are given the right amount of screen time; I like them.
T&P Show: While I, too, wished the show was about lions or hyenas, and didn't find it very believable that T&P would interact so much with humans, I never took the show to be canon or even that serious, and found it fun. I enjoy the show a bit and like T&P.
TLK2: What the...? They bicker like an old married couple and mention things like beepers and throw pillows (which kinda takes me out of the movie.)? How do they know what beepers and throw pillows are? Also, why is Pumbaa's chin bigger and his stomach smaller? Are these even the same characters from the first film? They were good at parenting Simba but can't parent Kiara?? I like TLK2, but I don't like Timon and Pumbaa in it.
TLK 1 1/2: Their designs are better and their jokes are better, but I don't like them here either, because the film focuses completely on them, doesn't add much to the TLK stories but removes stuff from them in a way. The reason I took the show to be fun and not 1 1/2 as much, is because of the mockery of the first movie, which I did not like. Also a film in the LK series seems like something that would have more weight in terms of canon than a TV show. I dunno, perhaps I was tired of Timon and Pumbaa at this point, but I just didn't like them in 1 1/2.

I don't think that scene mocked Mufasa's death... I liked that they weren't there while Mufasa actually died and didn't get involved in that somehow. They were in danger too, not making a joke out of it.

I think it was offensive when they parodied TLK, didn't give Scar any lines, and just that!

This whole movie seems to like playing on thin ice. Taking something as beloved as the Lion King and comically portraying has its ups and downs. If you are one of those that enjoy the epic quality of the film and the grown up morals present through the motion picture, you would view this film as essentially sacrilegious. Not that I'm saying the Lion King is a religion, but you have the mentality that certain things shouldn't have fun poked at them. :hopeful:

If you like the comical elements and whimsical musical vibrance of the original, then you can probably take a joke and simply relax and enjoy this fun little ride, walking away unharmed. I personally think that since TLK1 is mature enough to handle the topics it has dealt with, Disney shouldn't be looking to spoof the living daylights out of it. The willingness that Disney has to mock the Lion King is either laid-back artistic merit or proof they'll do anything for $$$. [draw conclusions here] :freakingout:
