Is Vitani's Nala's cub?

No. I think Vitani's the cub of both Zira and another lion. I mean, if she were Nala's cub, then why did Vitani call out Nala's name and not saying 'mother'? Because she is really Zira's cub.

I'm pretty sure both Nuka and Vitani are Scar's cubs. The history matches up pretty well. First, Zira is pregnant with Nuka prior to pride rock is taken over. During the rule of pride rock, she get's pregnant with Vitani and gives birth to her in the outlands. Finally, she goes off with some other lion when Scar is dead, and makes Kovu. Makes sense, ne?

Mostly. Only part that doesn't make sense is that Vitani and Kovu are far too close to the same age to -not- be in the same litter. And being that Scar is -not- Kovu's father (the film makes that clear enough), he also cannot be Vitani's father.

And so we have it that both Vitani and Kovu are Zira's cubs, sired by a random, unnamed rogue.

Not only that, but Zira stated that Kovu was "hand chosen by Scar". So, it doesn't make sense for Kovu to be Scar's appointed heir if he is born after Scar dies.

I'd say Zira and Scar is most likely. But it IS possible that Nala had a cub before finding out Simba was alive.

Yeah, but given the time between the two movies (and, more importantly, the time between the last few minutes of the film; with all the foliage regrowing and whatnot), any cub that Nala birthed during Scar's reign would've been WAAAAY older than Vitani is in SP. If she'd had a cub in that time, it would've been closer to Nuka's age.

My theory is like many other peoples on here. Vitani and Kovu were in the same litter, there mother was Zira but were sired by a rouge. I believe that Zira made out they were Scar's and Scar believed her, choosing Kovu as the next heir.
