A wave of memories washed over Kovu. "You may go. Perhaps later, I should talk with Kiara and explain to her why I ended up choosing Jasmine," he said, looking away.

Vitani nodded slowly, then walked up to Kovu and nuzzled him once. She wasn't used to exchanging so many... fond gestures with lions or lionesses. She stepped back, a bit taken away, and bowed her head again. "Do right by her, before she does wrong by the pride," she said softly. She then turned out and padded down to a small ledge on pride rock. Looking out below, she saw Haij and Kiara nuzzling each other. "What a bother," she sighed. "Now there's no way I'll get to talk to her.."

Haij made it to Pride Rock, sighing softly. He was looking around for Kovu and spotted him, walking over to the King. "Anything recent happened?"

Kovu shook his head, his mane shaking with the movement. "Vitani says she knows a way to help Kiara, and I have to explain to Kiara why I chose to be with Jasmine," he said.

"May I know why as well," he asked. "Sorry if it seems I'm a little too... 'in depth' with your family and all, but I can't remember on why you chose Jasmine."

Kovu sighed. "There were many reasons. For one, she has dark fur like me. When I met her, I was so happy to meet another lion with that fur color. Also, she's beautiful and has a great personality," he explained.

"Anything else? Besides, I bet you thought the same way with Kiara."

Kovu thought for a moment. "Well, they were nice to me, unlike my mother," he said. He sighed. "My mother wouldn't even allow the other lionesses to show me any kindness at all," he said.

"In order to make you stronger," he said. "Besides, that was your mother's goal." He giggled. "No need to tell me of the past. I know of it all, but I'm worried about the future."

Kovu started to walk away. "Please, let's just forget about this for now. I have to prepare for my coming family and keep my sister-in-law from starting down the path of destruction," he said.
