Delano thought of Muroki's answer as they walked. "Oh, so what I really meant to ask, was, what would you give to have that life? If you had a way to get that back, what would you give for it?" He knew it was a strange question, and he was confusing himself at the same time, but he still wanted to hear what Kasi had to say.

At the back of his mind, a thought emerged: would getting revenge help? From what they were told, their help was needed. But would it help them? Delano walked in silence, not really looking around, just thinking.


Umeme smiled sheepishly. Even more, she was now embarrassed at having laughed at Lina after she admitted to liking Delano. "I want them back," she whispered. "They weren't like the rest... they were different. And Muroki, he..." she fell silent again.

Muroki thought about what Delano said for a long while. No matter how hard he thought about it, he couldn't come up with an answer. "I dunno. Beside you, I don't have anything... But without you my old life will be worthless, so I guess I have nothing to give." he said, with a smile that was partially genuine but partially forced.

Lina smiled, "You can tell me, you know I wont laugh." she hoped that Delano and Muroki would be back soon, she was also starting to miss having Delano around, even though he always had his mind elsewhere. It was one of the things she found cute about him.

Delano almost didn't hear his brother's answer. "Well, yeah, it's just that, well, Kasi was certain that we would kill ourselves, what will we accomplish?" He thought about the question somewhat longer. "We live or die, will we actually help anyone? Kasi sounded like he wanted us to return... I don't know about the lionesses." He groaned with uncertainty. "Oh, I don't know. I think we'll have to ask others what will happen."


Umeme smiled slightly. "Thanks," she whispered, becasue she was starting to think that she was really missing Muroki. She then got an idea. She ran off in search of Kasi, and found him soon enough. "Hey, Kasi!" She called out. "You know where your cousins are, can we go and see them?"

Kasi looked back and saw Umeme running towards him. "Well, I don't know..." He replied.

Muroki shrugged, "I don't think they'll be able to answer that." going after the lions who killed their parents sounded like an impossible task, and Muroki was starting to seriously consider whether they were just wasting their time. And as far as he knew, the murderers weren't going to just pay a visit and tell that they were the ones to blame for everything. Now that he thought about it, the training program was the best place to start at, but there was no where to continue afterwards.

Delano groaned in reply. "I guess we'll simply see what we'll do once we finish with this." He finally said. "Figure out a plan..." He didn't want to really consider what would happen if they wouldn't get any help on where to start. Would they just give up? Delano knew that Kasi wanted them to, but he himself did not like that option. But what about Muroki?

Delano looked over at his brother, but couldn't bring himself to ask the question. So he simply walked on in silence.

The patrol carried on with Muroki and Delano leading everyone. The trainer wasn't saying anything at all, but even without that Muroki could feel that he was watching their every move. Why did that place have to be so big? Also the pride they joined a few days ago was so large that he couldn't see why they were so protective of themselves. "How long do you think we'll have to keep walking like that?" he asked his brother in a whisper.

Delano shook his head. "I don't know." As easy as the patrol was, he was starting to grow bored of it. Nothing happened, nothing to do except walk. And all it did was add time to the amount that they spent in the training program. "I hope that we won't have to do to many patrols," Delano said, "they seem kinda pointless."

He looked at the surroundings and saw that they were recognizable. Just like Muroki had said, they should finish by the end of the day. This little thought raised his hopes up that, even if they have to do the patrol, it won't take a long time.

Muroki after a while was also able to recognize some of the scenery. He wanted to ask the trainer how much time they would have to keep doing this, but he didn't want to give the trainer a reason to somehow make things even harder for him or Delano. Hopefully it wasn't just his mind playing tricks on him and they really were getting close to the end. The question considering what they should do next again popped in his mind, but he pushed it aside this time, deciding that they should first get through with this.

They continued to walk for a long time. The sun was even starting to set, and Delano saw that they were almost finished. But then a funny smell seemed to flow over the land, and after some more walking, they came across the source.

Delano looked at the lion's body in shock. What used to be a lion was now a bloody mess, simply left on the ground. "What happened here?" He asked Muroki, even though he knew that Muroki didn't know the answer. A sickening feeling of deja vu overwhelmed him. Somehow, he already knew that this was no accident.

Everyone gathered around the body, so the trainer had to muscle his way in. "Alright, everyone calm down. It's just a body. Same as you eat all the time. Nothing to look at. Just a-" He stopped when he saw the corpse.

Muroki looked at his brother for a moment and then back at the body, not surprised to see that his brother's expression was similar to his. Hunting accidents happen, but he never heard of anybody dying as a result since that usually left only a scratch or maybe a small scar. The only thing that could have injured another lion like that was another lion or another big cat, but they were very rare in that area. What was so far a doubt on whether he and his brother should keep doing what they were doing was no longer a doubt in Muroki's point of view.
