Believe it or not, but the percentage of Linux users is roughly 5% - Apple's OS X only gets 8%. This means that roughly for every two Linux computers, there are three Macs. Linux is not as rare as you think.

But wait! I never see someone else using Linux!
-This is also true. This is becasue while the percentage is the same as with Macs, the users are completely different. With individual users, Linux is very rare. But those who do love Linux: The French police force moved to Ubuntu in order to save licencing costs. It was also then proved even cheaper when discovered that after learning it, Ubuntu was easier to use than Windows, and the upkeep cost was much smaller as well, saving money in maintenance and increased productivity.

The U.S. Army is also one of the biggest Linux users in the world.

And don't get me started on what supercomputers use...

Wow. I can't believe that I used a school presentation outside of school!

I know. But you gave a statistic, and I thought "Hey, I did a report on that!" I was only a matter of time before I posted those statistics anyways.

Linux currently is running in over half of servers worldwide. (Including this one!) MLK runs on Debian.

Even if you don't know what Linux is, web pages that you load every day wouldn't exist without it.

Large organizations seem to be slowly moving towards Linux for their servers and even their desktops. In my time working for my university, we've gotten rid of several Windows servers in favor of OpenSUSE Linux servers. The world is slowly realizing the potential of Linux as an operating system, and I think we're going to be seeing more and more of it as time goes on. ^__^

I plan on dual booting my new computer with Windows 7 and Ubuntu. :3

From this list Ubuntu is the best, but the linux based oppetating system I use is called BackTrack.
BackTrack "The quiter you become, the more you're able to hear"
There are those who complain about the wind, there are those who hope the wind will change, --though the wise-- the wise adjust their sails.

BackTrack is a Ubuntu derivative... :?
But yeah, Linux is great! Makes your hardware several years newer.
