I like a lot of different music genres, and I can tolerate stuff that I'm not even really a huge fan of. But country? Forget it. I detest country. New country or pop-like country is acceptable (like Taylor Swift, I really like her), but most country I just really hate. Their voices just sound terrible. No offense, but they just drawl on and on and it just doesn't sound good. I don't like the instrumental part of it, either. It's just not attractive to me.

The same goes for most mainstream hip-hop. I know there's some exceptions, but most of the popular rappers are just constantly bragging about their piles of cash, their harem, how they want to kill their rivals, etc.
I will say a word about metal. Not every band that screams is "death" metal. That's a very specific genre that's actually a pretty extreme form of metal. As for the lyrics, sure there's some twisted ones out there, but they can be easily avoided and metal bands with a positive message do exist. To each their own though, I realize how much of an aqcuired taste heavier music can be.
