Balto nodded and laid back down beside Jenna.

Hammy sighed. "This year's racing season should be good. There's going to be new, talented teams from Anchorage and Fairbanks this year," he said.

Balto looked a little surprised, "From this far away?"

Hammy nodded. "Apparently, some mushers are so interested in the sport that they'll travel far just to attend minor races," he said.

Balto never knew that before. "Well, you learn something new every day."

Hammy nodded. "I heard it at the musher's hangout. I was able to hear a little bit of their conversation before Dixie and Sylvie stopped me and started fawning over me," he said.

Balto looked at his grandson, "Who are they?" it's just been a really long time since he last went to the village.

Hammy chuckled slightly. "Grandma's old friends, the ones who used to think that Steele was the hottest dog alive," he said.

Balto then remembered, "Oh, right... Well, don't let it effect you alright?"

Hammy shook his head. "That wasn't what got to me. What did get to me is that they're fawning over a dog much younger than them," he said.
