Hammy looked around. "I still remember when my musher was training me and you and Grandma would tell the other dogs not to feed my ego, despite how well I was doing," he said, remembering those days when he would often stay with his grandparents.

Balto said, "I'm glad we did that." for a second he imagined Hammy being like Steele and a chill went up his spine.

Dusty had been listening the whole time. "I appreciate that, Balto. He became a champion without getting a big head, and it's thanks to you and Jenna," she said.

Jempa looked at Melony. "Well, isn't this great? I had a feeling something would happen with Hammy and Lilly," he said.
