Kodi yawned. "Well, Dad, do you and Mom mind if Dusty and I stay and rest a bit until Hammy gets back? We're both tired after our latest mail run," he said.

Kodi and Dusty laid down, thankful for the rest. A long time passed. Hammy finally returned, his tail wagging. "Everyone, I had a long talk with Lilly about her becoming my mate. She agreed. We're going to meet up tonight to spend time together," he said with a slightly cocky smile.

Balto looked at his grandson, "That's wonderful news."

Kodi nodded and looked at his father. "And so, a new branch of our family tree begins," he said proudly.

Balto looked at his son, "Well, that depends on these two." he said with a chuckle. referring to Hammy and Lilly.

Hammy smiled. "I don't think we're ready for that bit yet. We still have a long sled-pulling career ahead of us," he said.
