As they ran, Delano found it harder and harder to keep up. A few times, he stumbled, but unlike before, he didn't fall. Still didn't make running any less painful. But to his amazement, they only did a long loop and came back to the starting hill.
As they stopped, Delano felt his legs shaking, and almost simply collapsed on the ground, but forced himself to remain standing. The trainer didn't seem to notice. "I know that the first few days will be extremely hard, but you need to get your strength up," he explained, observing how everyone looked barely conscious, "and then we will be able to start doing the real stuff. But before then, doing so will be completely useless."
