Friend Advise..

Postby SophieCub » September 8th, 2011, 8:16 pm

Hello fellow MLKers! I need help! One of my best friends is changing.. I'm not ready to change. I have known her for.. about 8/9 years and we where really close. She was so nice and sweet but now she keeps swearing at me for no aparent reason and we have had lots of fall-outs. (I dont mind the swearing but she takes it too far..) She also gets very moody and says that I'm not her BEST FRIEND, I'm just her friend. Last year she said I was her Best Friend. I do have my other friends but they are her friends too. She keeps annoying me on purpose to get me angry. Its a bit like bulling. We have lots of good memories and I want to have more but she is changing. I cant get her out of my life.. I need some advise. What should I do? She is trying to get closer to my friends so they go on her side and so that I have no friends.

That's horrible!
I'm so sorry for you D:
Umm..well. Some people can change all of sudden. Especially when they get new friends. I don't know, did she got some new friends this year?
I lost almost all my childhood friends as well. People can change..
Umm..if she just keeps acting like that, you can't see her as a friend anymore, youknow..
Sometimes you need to let friends go and find new ones. :sosorry:

Must...Not...Reply...To...Ahhhh what the hey I got a few minutes to kill.

Well the only reason she might say "You aren't my best friend just a friend." is because that is what happens when you grow up. You stop having best friends, and you just have friends - or acquaintanceships.

As for swearing, again some people do not like it at all, but it starts when you get older and can say "Poo" without giggling every time. Before high school, none of my friends or myself swore. First day back we were insulting each other's mothers in every other conversation - it was great!

She is just growing up, is all there is to that. And you would be wise to do the same, to be perfectly honest. You might not want to, but it is a part of life. You will create new memories regardless of mental age =)

Now time to quote some stuff that I wanted to get to particularly....
She keeps annoying me on purpose to get me angry. Its a bit like bulling.
How far exactly does this go? It might just be friendly / joking things, more like banter instead of bullying.
She is trying to get closer to my friends so they go on her side and so that I have no friends.
That sounds to me like you are really making a mountain out of a molehill. Maybe she just gets along well with your friends? I mean, sure would much rather her be able to join you and your friends somewhere rather than having to choose between them, right?

TL DR - Yeah, she is just growing up, and you should too.

When you grow up? People have friends from Kindergarten until they are adult. Unfortunately, most people do lose their best friends after some time :/ Most people do. From your post I interpreted that you simply have acquaintances (again, no spell check even with the new browser) or just simple friends. Many, many, many people still have best friends even through adulthood. Just depends on who you're friends with.

I'm pretty sure I understood what you wrote, I may bump into walls but I am not that dense xP

EDIT: You edited your post? Well then, alrighty :P

If she continues to just act like such a jerk, I guess you might have to let go... don't feel bad, I've lost best friends like teeth as they slowly started changing who they were. Some people can just stay friends forever. Others have many best friends but haven't known them for too long. It all just depends :)

Ah, this has hapened to me so many times. I'm srry, but the best thing to do is move on and find another friend. So one friend didn't work out in the end, doesn't mean another friend wont.

Personally, I had to grow up and mature quicker than normal people would due to these things. Eventually, you're gonna need to change. If you're not ready, that's fine, but I learnd the hard way that the longer you refuse to change, the harder the change will be when the time comes. Just let it come when it comes, that's the easiest way. Change is a part of life, can't change that.
