Lilly blushed slightly at being called beautiful but nodded excitedly, "Uh huh, it's gonna be immense!". She admired how handsome Hammy was for a few seconds and wagged her tail.

Hammy smiled. "I know it is, Lilly. My parents and grandparents are really excited for us," he said. Just then, an Alaskan husky with golden brown and white fur ran up to them. His name was Jempa, and he had a tendency to overreact to anything going wrong, even a minor incident. "Hey guys. How are you?" he asked Hammy and Lilly.

"Hiya Jempa, I'm fine thanks and you?", Lilly replied, trying to stop giving accidental dreamy looks Hammy.

Jempa smiled. "I'm great and ready for the big run!" he said excitedly.

Lilly smiled, but then, a gang of huskies her age came up to her, "Hey, look who it is, hello miss wolfy, heard ya howling last night!", said one of the boys, the huskies laughed. Lilly blushed and looked to the floor in shame.

Hammy glared at the huskies. "Leave now, all of you!" he said with a fearsome snarl.

The all smirked at Hammy and then at Lilly and one of them said before leaving, "You'll get what's coming to ya wolfy, you shouldn't be a pet, you're too different". Lilly turned away from Hammy to hide tears, she hated being teased, just because of what she looked like and how she couldn't help howling.

Hammy snarled again. "Your cruelty will be your undoing, just as it was the undoing of Steele!" he shouted.

Lilly sniffled and wiped her eyes with a paw, "I don't know how your Grampa Balto coped with them...". She turned back around, sulking, she could still hear the gang laughing as they walked away.

Hammy waited until they were out of sight before speaking again. "Lilly, listen to me. You're very beautiful. To me, your beauty outshines the northern lights," he said.
