Well, they'd probally just think, "OH! Scar told us that Mufasa was dead, so me must be telling the truth."
Thats the only thing I can think of.

What about Zazu? When do you think he regained consciousness after Scar whacked him? It's not like he suffered from amnesia or some sort of short-term memory. Wouldn't he at least be a bit suspicious of the mere fact that Scar did that to him? Wouldn't he mention it to the lionesses?

I would say that for the sake of the story, Zazu did not remember what happened. He would wake up and not remember how he got there, only that as far as he is aware, the day went by fine. That is, until Scar shows up and tells that Mufasa and Simba are dead.

Another thing to mention is that Zazu had his back turned when Scar hit him, being caught by surprise and slamming into the wall the was he did. Makes it very easy to believe that Zazu was knocked senseless. Like DGFone said.
