" Mom told us how she met dad and how they got married." Kovu said, recounting his mother's tale. " So How did Ahadi choose dad as the sultan and not scar, and was Scar always called Scar?" Kiara asked. Kovu nodded in agreement. " Yeah Rafiki, and how di he get that scar?" He asked, taking his hand along his own scar given to him by Imon Phire.

Rafiki kept his eyes on his students. "Your father was chosen because he was de strongest of the two princes. Taka became jealous and attacked Mufasa in a fit of rage. Ahadi heard dis and struck Scar in de face with his claws. Taka then chose to be called Scar from den on. He bought dat snake staff from a mysterious merchant and began using it to make his servants do his bidding," he said.

" So How come Grandfather didn't Banish Scar, and where did Zia come from?" Kovu asked as Kiara gulped, still trying to grasp why psyical strength would play a part in choosing a heir. "But I thought a sultan was chosen because of they commitment of service to others?" Kiara asked.

Rafiki sighed. "Dat is true, but Ahadi played favorites with his sons and chose Mufasa for de reasons I mentioned. As for Zira, she was a noble from a kingdom dat made an alliance with Agrabah. Scar was not banished because Uru begged for him to stay," he said.

"Well what does Physical strength Have to do with anything?" Kiara asked. Kovu thought about that too. "Yeah, cause it's not like the sultan has to fight, doees he?" Kovu asked, not satisfied with Rafiki's Answer.

Rafiki looked at the cubs. "You see, a sultan is expected to lead his army at times," he said.

" Does a sultan lead them in battle?"Kovu asked Rafiki. " But isn't the Sultan too important to be on the battlefeild?" Kiara asked.

Rafiki shook his head. "A sultan is expected to go into battle. He is considered weak if he doesn't," he said.
