I will give it the benefit of the doubt in terms of animation, but the plot is not that well thought out, I mean it does not really have one, each episode has a different simplistic "story" with the same characters except for a few episodes where they introduce a new character and then they are never heard of again.

There is evidence in this thread, that FiM is not that true to the original and it would also explain why nobody cared about MLP before the show started.

Just because something is not intended to be aimed at a certain age group or sex, it does not mean that is not the case. It is aimed at girls. And if not that, it is almost certainly aimed at kids. That would be like saying Power Rangers was not aimed at boys, it clearly was but it did not stop girls from liking it if they so chose.

I watched about 15 episodes of it before realising what I was actually doing and stopped, never watching it again, not because I felt childish, or anything else, but because it sucks and is just a passing fad.

I will have to say it is not the peak of quality animation I know everyone has different tastes, but Classic Disney (even recent Disney), Studio Ghibli, Dreamworks and Pixar are infinately better. It's just a silly flash animation, to be honest. I studied animation (2D and 3D) for 2 years and I know how it's put together. Sure, they have a good variety of expressions and squash and stretch, but I can't see any...umm, feeling? Life? I don't know, but there's something seriously lacking in my eyes. It's more like a awful Disney sequel to me.

Well, I can't think of any more elements of Harmony, can you? Introducing another main character would mean a new element, and I honestly can't think of any more. If you look at the backgrounds, you can see same characters every single time. There are also fan-named characters such as Bon-Bon, Lyra, Colgate, Octavia, and Derpy/Ditst Doo.

Change is good, no? Lauren Faust based all the main characters (Besides the princesses) from the original. Applejack is Applejack, Twilight Sparkle is Twilight, Sparkler is Pinkie Pie, Posey is Fluttershy, Firefly is Rainbow Dash, and I forget Rarity's but I think it was like Sparkle or something...

I mean, you can't make a tv show too close to the original anyway. If you watched the two generations before this one (Although grew up and loved one of them) you'd be begging to watch this. The animation is poor, the ponies have no real personality, and the plots are extremely girly-girly and mostly involve throwing parties or finding lost rainbows. Magic sound any better?

I'm not saying you have to, all I'm trying to achieve is that you understand that it's not all a girly-girly kiddy show. Did you even read the link I posted?
