Just to let all you G1 fans know, Lauren Faust (The person who created the series) was a complete fan of the first generation as a little girl. (I think she was a little girl lol) She based all the characters off of the first series. She also tried to keep moral standard up. If you look deeply into the series, it's the peak of quality animation, very thought out story plots, true to the original, and it has morals that are good for younger audiences.
So you see, it's not just a girly-girl show as you all call it. Lauren Faust didn't even intend it to be aimed toward girls too much anyway....
