Before I go further, I want to explain this story so people are not wondering why Vitani is in the Pridelands and Simba is called her brother. It is based around an AU RP I'm doing in which Simba and Vitani are adoptive siblings. No bashing or flaming please.

Cubhood
It was morning. Simba was still fast asleep. However, it wasn’t to last. He suddenly felt a pair of small paws pressing on him.
“Up, up!” a familiar female voice said.
Simba opened his eyes and saw Vitani standing over him.
“Go away, ‘Tani,” he said in a groggy voice.
Vitani only smirked and grabbed hold of Simba’s ear. She began to tug.
“Come on!” she said, the sound muffled.
By now, Sarabi had woken up and didn’t like what she saw.
“Vitani! Let go of your brother this instant!” she stated.
Vitani did so, not wanting to upset her mother. Sarabi never broke eye contact with the golden-furred, blue-eyed cub.
“Now, apologize,” she ordered.
Vitani looked at Simba, who was now up and looking rather irritable.
“I’m sorry,” she said in a flat tone.
Sarabi frowned.
“Like you mean it!” she stated.
Vitani looked back at Simba.
“I’m sorry, Simba,” she said.
Sarabi smiled.
“Good. Now, we just wait for your father to wake up,” she said, looking at Mufasa’s sleeping form.
Both cubs sighed. Not too long afterward, Mufasa awoke, yawned and got up to begin his day. Simba ran up to his father.
“Hey Dad! You want to hang out today?” he asked with a large, eager smile on his face.
Mufasa sighed.
“I’m sorry, Son. Today, I have to go and settle the dispute between the elephants and the rhinos. Why don’t you hang out with Vitani?” he said.
Simba frowned.
“Dad! Not Vitani!” he exclaimed.
“Why not, Simba? You two are siblings. You should spend time together,” Mufasa replied.
Vitani smiled.
“Testify!” she exclaimed.
Simba still frowned.
“Dad, she and Nala always team up on me!” Simba said.
Just then, Nala, who woken up moments ago, came over.
“It’s not our fault that you’re not that good at pouncing,” she said.
Simba frowned.
“Oh yeah? Well, come on and I’ll prove that I am!” he stated.
Nala and Vitani laughed in unison.
“All right, Simba. We’ll give you a chance to prove it,” Vitani said.
And so, the cubs headed outside the den. Simba and Vitani faced each other while Nala looked on. The contest began. For once, Simba actually managed to get the jump on Vitani. Vitani looked shocked. Simba smirked.
“What’s the matter, ‘Tani? Can’t think of anything to say?” he said.
Suddenly, Vitani pushed him back and pounced on him.
“No, I was just waiting for the right moment!” she said.
It was then that Nala joined in.
“No fair, Nala! We’re betrothed!” Simba exclaimed.
Nala ignored him. She and Vitani conspired to hold Simba down. However, Mufasa and Sarabi and Nala’s parents, Shujaa and Sarafina, had heard the commotion and come over.
“Vitani!” Mufasa shouted, his deep voice causing Vitani to jump back.
“Hey Dad. Nice to see you,” she said, trying to look innocent.
Mufasa frowned.
“Don’t pull the innocent game with me, young lady. We have told you not to rough up Simba. You have deliberately disobeyed us,” he said.
Vitani looked down, then at Simba.
“I’m sorry,” she said.
Simba was overjoyed to watch her get in trouble. Meanwhile, Shujaa and Sarafina were getting on Nala.
“You shouldn’t have joined in,” Shujaa said.
“I just got excited,” Nala replied.
“That is no excuse,” Sarafina said.
Just then, Sarabi had an idea.
“Everyone, I have an idea. What if, to compensate Simba, the girls spend the day doing what he wants,” she suggested.
Everyone agreed. Simba was now grinning from ear to ear. He looked at Vitani.
“Come, my earnest but in trouble sister,” he said.
He then looked at Nala.
“Come, my future mate,” he said.
The girls grumbled and followed him. The adults laughed. Already, the cubs had faced another trial in the Pridelands.
