The Member Dens

Why should we wait for Moka to come online to express our opinions about this subject? It's not like he waited for us to make this decision in the first place.

*waits for the "It's his forum, he can do what he wants" reply*

Also, it was stated that taking away the member dens area would save room? Since when were they taking up much needed space? Is there some newly enforced data cap that Moka's hosting service suddenly put in place? And again, if you're not actually removing the threads, you're not saving space in the first place.

So...

Pros:

-The forum will be better organized. There will not be 15 separate chat threads in 15 separate dens all essentially serving the same purpose.
-The problem with who deserves dens and who does not will be a non-issue.

Cons:
-Members who have already earned dens are going to lose them, which they are understandably bothered about.

Pro/Cons:
-Dens will no longer designate members as MLK's 'best'. Whether this is good or bad is up to the individual.
-Like it or not, spam and pointless messages will decrease. But it's friendly spam and pointless messages in the chat topics. This can be interpreted as good or bad.

So there it is as I see it. The only argument I will make is that it's a strange perspective to be against everyone being able to post personal threads. Why should we have to earn the ability to post personal threads? o.O That came up a few times and it seemed like there was a negative reaction to it, but I think it makes perfect sense. Just addressing that as I saw it. ^^

How is this true, when the topics are just being moved to a different part of the forum? They will still be posted in as much, if not perhaps more so, than they were when they were in their original places on the forum.

As far as I remember, anyone was more than welcome to create a questions and answers thread if they wanted to. If they didn't have a den, all they needed to do was post it in The Den area. No one ever did that though, but is that the fault of the members who had dens?

Where do you think there will be more spam, 15 separate general chat topics or one central general chat topic posted in the new Den? Assuming we don't just use the chatbox which serves rather a similar purpose (although the chatbox is more quick paced, so I can how they would be different)

Because this is filled with all the same stuff at this point. I'm kindly asking you to refrain until he gets back, because nothing else further is known until he gets back. There's no sense in repeating the same thing 15 times, I think we understand both sides points now, and I'm sure Moka will look back at it and make the right decision.

@Azdgari: I was under the impression that all the existing threads that were in the member dens, were going to be put into one sub-board of some sort, so going by that assumption, to answer your question, the amount of spam would be equal no matter whether it spans across as many dens as there were, as opposed to being put all in one sub-board.

@WS: I'm sorry if this is coming off as sounding like a personal attack on you WS, which it is not meant to be since I know you've only been on the staff for a few days time, but thinking in that same vein of thought, wouldn't it be best to let Moka field the questions and concerns, rather than trying to handle them yourself, as you stated, you don't know very much about this decision of Mokas anyways?

hey guys, being one of the more inactive members that has a den and i will admit that i'm inactive, why don't you just take the people who don't post on the site anymore and put their dens in the archive giving the new members who deserve it and being that there are so many members now, it will be harder to choose but that just means people are really going to have to try harder to be friendlier and prove that they are the top of the site and are worthy to have a den.

It doesn't make sense to me to ruin everyone's fun by moving them all into the den... whats the point, i might as well go and start posting my threads in the den now. no. also it makes most members who strive to have a den less motivated to be active, while they shouldn't only be active to get a den I understand, it still is a good goal to have for most members.

ALSO @ WS

No i actually think its more important we state the same stuff because if we don't no one will listen. You've been in this kind of situation before and know exactly what we are doing AND why! what, now your a mod so your not going to stand up for what you believe in? THAT IS NOT THE WS WE KNOW.
