Yes, I did read the post. I disagree completely with what she says, because all she wants is for the adult board not to be there for here own selfish reasons. Quoting that one paragraph doesn't prove anything, if she didn't want to be bombarded with mature content, she shouldn't of joined a board mainly aimed towards the 13+ crowd. Just think of what is allowed on PG-13 movies. Sure kids still get into them, but that doesn't stop others from being able to have fun.

Her selfish reasons such as wanting to be a part of the community? What an awful member. Sure she joined a 13+ board, expecting 13+ content. What does that have to do with mature content? 13+ content is obviously different than 18+ content, why else would we be having this discussion? I don't understand your argument.

The way I see it ultimately it comes down to risk of losing members whose parents won't allow them on a site with mature content vs. reward of having mature discussion. I happen to vote for the first, I'm not saying everyone else should. But that's how I'm seeing this. If I'm wrong, please let me know. ^^

Personally, I don't mind what happens at all with this adult board. The only thing I'm concerned about with the 'The staff pick members who they think are mature enough' method, is that if people don't get picked, they might feel left out and a bit, well, annoyed, to say the least. That's just me being picky, though.

Because, this board wasn't meant for kids in the first place. 18+ content really isn't all that different from 13+ content nowadays. Seriously, I've seen R rated movies be more tame then PG-13 movies. Even back in the 80's the PG (there was no PG-13 back then) ratings sometimes had things worthy of an R rating. As I said before, if she didn't want to see content she wasn't sure about, she shouldn't of joined a 13+ community. Believe it or not, some PG-13 movies even have nudity in them.

I don't think she's a bad person for wanting to stay on this forum, I just don't think it's a really valid arguement. Especially considering it wouldn't matter, because she wouldn't be able to see it in the first place, and this problem can also be solved by hiding the board. On TLKP you won't even know the adult board is there until your old enough to view it.

It's the same issue with the Member Rooms. But I've only seen someone have an issue of it once.

If we had to pick members who (acted) maturely to be able to view the board, then it would be a pretty small number.
I can haz an idea though! what about if, we had sections aimed at different ages, with rules to match. Like 13-5, 15-18, and 18+...?

It would be hardly to pin directly what content would be allowed in each of those boards, though.
